What if there are no quality backs for us in the draft? Or the only adequate replacement is in the top 32 picks? Are we going to burn a 1ston a replacement and ignore the defense?

Sure, you CAN get quality backs later in the draft but there's no guarantee. I actually resign Murray. Don't think he will break the bank.

When Murray plays this is a different team. He is one of the few guys that plays with a swagger and a serious chip on his shoulder. The guy is tough with good hands and a leader.

Pay that man his money.

There will be decent backs that can look good behind an elite line in the 75-100 range. Who knows, maybe Murray sees what is happening with the position and doesnt make an outrageous demand and this discussion is moot. No one is suggesting to just cut him, he just shouldnt be given a blank check.

It was 9.54M this year which is based on the average of the previous 5 years top 5 RB salaries.

It could go down because the average of the top 5 in 2014 is $7,420,000.

I would not break the bank for him. He is a good RB but he has a heck of a line to run behind and has a history of injuries. I think we can find another RB in the draft if he want too much money.

Clearly, you have no idea what a top five running back looks like. Demarco fumbles have come as much as his injuries. Truth be told, he leaves too many yards on the field. The oline is due the credit. A top five running back would have had 200 yards today and not fumbled.

he left yards on the field a couple of times and it sticks in everyone's memory. He's presently leading the league in yards by a wide margin - he's not leaving anything on the field here. He's not really a big fumbler - I doubt we see many more this year.
