On this I find it debatable.
I like the way you think for building a team, without question, but this is just like any other arm chair owner/GM/Head coach fan on the internet. It's very easy to say on a computer screen you'd do this, or hire that guy, or make this decision. We can't really know what your eye for GM, HC, or player talent is.
I do know that I agree with your plans for how to build a team, in terms of from the lines out, but outside of that I could only speculate as to which coaches or players or GM's you actually called, ahead of time, being good/great that turned out that way.
Which is the same with any fan.
