Leary status?

Bernadeau is a step down, but he has started in this league before and has played well when he was 100% healthy (which he currently is).

Leary hasn't been ruled out for the Arizona game. X-rays were negative and Garrett said they'd see how he feels today.

bernie will play guard if leary can't go. bernie is a solid guard. no reason to change the entire line over one guard and certainly no reason to change the center and risk a problem there. bernie is a better guard than free, it's that simple. just plug him in and go

We are all armchair GMs and coaches here (and I include myself there), but Free is better than Parnell and that is why Free starts and Parnell subs. These offensive coaches have probably more than 200 years of combined football knowledge, they see the players every day, and every practice rep and every film session. I think they probably know more than any of us about who should be starting. But, back to the OP, if Leary can't play, Bernie has played that position before with Frederick and Smith around him. He will be alright for one game. He gets paid a lot of money to be ready for that and if there were some other contingency plan there would be no need to keep him on the roster.

It's never that simple. Contracts, politics, level of comfort and other things play into these decisions.

I remember all those years when Spears was way better than Hatcher. People wonder why Hatcher was bitter about leaving here? Maybe it's because they put a bum ahead of him all those years and never gave him a shot to start.

I agree, I think Parnell is a good backup to have I don't see his play as better than Free.

I also think Free being out there helps to steady the ship per say

Currently, Dallas’ offensive line is made up of talented, but still very young and somewhat inexperienced lineman. The ages of the starters on the offensive line are as follows: tackle Tyron Smith (23), guard Zack Martin (23), center Travis Frederick (23), guard Ronald Leary (25) and Free (30). So you can see how the young players would look toward the elder tackle for leadership.
One thing is for sure: Free has come a long way in the past two seasons. From being on the fringe of being released to now being call the emotional backbone of an offensive line credited for this team’s astonishing turnaround.

I think this is true, I noticed before the game they showed a shot of Free huddling with the O line in the locker room. Looked as if he was coaching them up.

Like others there have been times in Doug Free career that have been very disappointing, unlike some I don't keep a player in the dog house, if you can go out and redeem yourself and start playing good ball then there is no issue. As for Parnell I think he has filled in well and like Free there have been times I have not been thrilled with Parnell.

and I agree with you about Free being a solid starter and team player. Hoping Leary and Free are better after the bye week whether that means playing or resting I leave that to the coaches and trainers, but this line is key to the second half off the season. We, as fans don't quite know what Parnell brings and if we can see him play another game it will enhance our debates on how valuable he is. I do know that Leary has been enormous this year. This line when healthy is the stamp on this team.

No, it was not. That was standard pass block and he rode the rusher past the pocket.

I have no idea how you think that play was a fail. You might be thinking about a 2nd down play at the end of the 4th quarter where Romo lost the ball; however, that was not Parnell's fault either. Murray missed picking up the blitz on that play.

Hell, the whole team missed that blitzer. LOL.. Romo or someone seemed to slide protection to the wrong side. The whole offense was just terrible when recognizing the blitzes.. It wasn't like these were something new. There was just no adjustments what so ever. Maybe those new Ipads they use had dead batteries and they need get back to the faxes.. lol
