If we franchise him this season, he's most likely gone the next. Either give him a contract or trade him.

Why should Dez be happy with 13 mill for a single year from the franchise tag when some team would easily pay him 13 mil for numerous years and he gets guaranteed money on top of that? If we franchise him, I'm sure he's gone just because of the disrespect he perceives coming from the organization.

I don't think there are a lot of teams out there who would pay him 13 Million a year on a long term deal. I actually don't believe there are any. Things are changing in the NFL IMO. Teams are not going to pay that kind of money out. I just don't see it.

Another sign Dez is turning into a diva.

Because he wants what he believes he deserves? Why should be punished because Jones made bad decisions with past contracts?

If they feel that strongly about giving out contracts, simple, let him walk.

Nah you don't wanna do that though. To scared of what the future might hold without him.

Ed Werder has sources. Of that, I have no doubts. You don't get to the level of ESPN and not have sources. His sources can be the agent or Dez himself. But the relationship between reporters and sources is all a game. Agents and players feed information to reporters - and request anonymity - to float trial balloons. Reporters run with the information, whether the agent or player means to follow through or not, because the information isn't libelous or slanderous (which would require a deeper level of vetting) and because they need a "scoop." Sometimes, they're right. And sometimes, if an agent and/or player gets a reaction he's not expecting, he'll reverse field, so to speak, making the reporter appear as if he made up the information.
I seriously doubt Werder is fabricating this information. My guess is that he has talked to Dez's agent who offered Dez will more than likely skip offseason workouts if he's franchised. Not that big of a revelation and not that surprising. But it gets the faithful talking which amounts to "Mission Accomplished" for Werder, ESPN, Dez and his agent.

so Dallas is to pay Dez what he says he should be paid anything less is disrespectful. lol

Obviously Dallas thinks it's disrespectful, to pay him whatever he is asking for. See how this works?

This isn't 1 sided. He's not just some ***** or slave. He has rights to ask for whatever the hell he thinks he deserves. Weather Dallas wants to pay or not, is up to them, weather he wants to sign what they offer is up to him.

Maybe another team will pay him contender or not, because honestly without Dez we damn sure are not a contender.

What are we gonna do? Run teams to death with no WR on the outside to fear? Let me guess Williams will transform from the piece of **** that he is, and all of a sudden be able to beat 1 on 1 coverage? Catch with his hands? Oh and Beasley will turn into a legit "Can't stop me" threat right? What about old man Witten, and Harris.

Yeah you are right. I see the light now. We don't need to pay Dez. We are so blessed with weapons, and the best QB in the NFL. Go Cowboys.

Cowboys have not made these type of comments, Dez as normal is a very emotional guy I expect him to act like this. Deals are done because 2 sides some to an agreement, it is not a case of give Dez whatever he wants that is stupid. I want him back like any other fans I do not think he is the Dallas Cowboys he accounted for 30% of the offense and Murray accounted for 40% of the offense. Can we replace Murray sure I hope we don't have to. Can we replace Dez? Yes but I hope we don't have to. Dez is important but he is not the sole reason for the success many played a part. You act as if everything is Dez and it is not.

So we can replace Dez? With who?

No of course not, to the point that he is the sole reason. He is a big chunk of it though, a huge chunk.

You really stack the Box against Murray, it's over. He was never that good before this O-Line. Bums like Randle and Dunbar shined at times behind this O-Line. He's not as dynamic as Dez.

Sure we can Draft another WR. I'll tell you what unless he's fresh out like Moss or ODB. It will take him 2-4 Years to do what Dez can do.

Therefore Leaving Williams as our main target. Would be fun to watch.

Overall, I hear what you are saying.

his sources--as far as we can tell--don't actually exist.

Really. How in the world does he keep his job then?

I know I'd take his word over anyone here who claims they are "sourced up".

And Risen is right. The way you guys pile on to anyone who says anything that might put a Cowboy in a bad light is laughable, beginning with you.

Dez had been as much a part of the 8-8 seasons as any other player on this team. This season Dallas went 12-4 he played a big part so did others, what was different this season? lets see oh yeah Dallas ran the ball it was not all the passing it was a consistent running game that got us out of the 8-8 funk. Who would replace him? likely the same way we replaced TO by going out and drafting Dez. I would rather him stay in Dallas and be a part of what is taking place but this notion Dez should get what he wants is BS it does not work that way. As for Murray he avg 5 yards a carry before this season so acting like he never did anything is complete BS. You demean every player on this team except for Dez well newflash Dez is not the Dallas Cowboys he is one of many who have gone out and played hard. He deserve to be rewarded but because he throws a hissy fit does not mean the Cowboys should kiss his royal butt.

You here this every time an important part of the team comes up for contract. "You Can't replace him."

Anybody can be replaced. How has the NFL survived all these years if players can not be replaced? Anybody can be replaced. The question is, how easily can it be done? Dez can be replaced, just as Tony can or Murray or anybody.

Yeah we ran the ball Well this year because we fixed the O-Line. Not because we just decided to run more.

Yeah we replaced TO with Dez, but it took Dez a few years to be the Dez he is today. Last I checked Romo is not getting any younger.

Romo is done in about 2 years, if he's even lucky, with that back.

what does that matter according to you Romo is just a body back there. Hell for 16 mill Dallas could get a couple of good WR at that price to help take over the load. I want Dez but not at all cost I'm not going to act as if whatever he demands he should get. Cowboys have never been a team who under pays players and I don't think they are trying to underpay Dez I'm more inclined to think Dez agent is asking for too much
