I think it depends on the definition of "hometown discount." I could see an aging veteran like Peterson, who already has his millions, taking $7 million a year to play here instead of $9-$10 million to play for a rebuilding team like Oakland.

I don't believe the Cowboys are looking to spend $7M/year on ANY back right now. And $7M-per is only about $1.5M less per year than what the Eagles just signed Demarco Murray - a younger back back than Peterson and a well-known quantity to Dallas - FOR.

We'll be getting a back on a very manageable four year contract soon- whoever Dallas drafts at the position between April 30-May 2.

AD isn't coming here. Jerruh will replace Murray with a combination of a drafted rookie and current veterans on the team...

If we could get AP for $7M or even $8M/year for 3 years I think we should snap him up. Probably be willing to give up something between a 2nd or 3rd round draft pick value as well to make the trade. He is the best running back since Emmitt Smith, a year rested, an otherworldly athlete, and is carrying a massive chip on his shoulder. I think odds are he will still be near his peak for the next 3 years unless we worked him like we did Murray last year. He's one of the few players I think would be worth such a move.

I agree with you 100%, but I think Jerruh is in that mindstate where RB's are a dime a dozen. It's his flavor of the month for this offseason. But, i think decent RB's are a lot easier to acquire now than they were 10 years ago..

I think a 5th round pick should be enough. But yeah, let's get him.

I think we almost have to now. I still think we should draft one 2-4 round. But I dont want to go into the season hoping the guy is ready for a full season of professional football.....and all that goes with it.

This whole scenario smells of AD coming to Dallas. IF he gets released. I don't see the Cowboys trading for him. The Bucs or Raiders have more to give up.

If given a choice Adrian Peterson is not going to choose to end his career in Tampa Bay or Oakland, lets get real
