It gives them proven mediocrity and a known bust.

Anyone who's ever carried the ball in the NFL qualifies as a 'veteran'. And plenty of available options have gone well over that minimal 1,000 yard bar you've set. This guy has accomplished that 'feat' exactly once in 7 seasons.

No interest in CJ Spiller or even Ridley, but they sign this proven loser?

But some people will line up to praise whatever moves the Cowboys do or don't make.

Plenty of available options? Not sure about that.

Spiller and Ridley are ok. Ridley is coming off of an ACL and MCL. That scares me especially if you are going to go after Gurley too. Spiller is also coming off of injuries.

And Spiller isn't a prover loser? I'm not sure why you categorize McFadden as a proven loser. Is it his fault the Raiders suck?

And some people like you will criticize every move the Cowboys make. Dude you are never happy about anything and you are often wrong about many things which I'm so happy to call you out on and will continue to do.

Spiller would be fairly expensive, while McFadden is borderline free.

Yeah..

I think he'll be an explosive player for us.. I really do.

I just hope he is a role player and we aren't hanging our hat on him being Demarco next season.

I think it will be more of a running back by committee approach this year.

At 27, it will be difficult to find someone on D that will make an immediate impact. I would go RB without even thinking about it twice

I'll say this much, if they don't think they can get a good pass rusher at that point, and anyone else they'd take would be a reach/project as a pass rusher, I'd give serious consideration to an RB if one of the studs are still there. That late in the 1st round, I don't hate taking a quality RB.

I think Dallas is thinking in terms of value and opportunities, so I suspect they won't pull the trigger on an RB in the 1st round. They could potentially get a nice addition in the 2nd, and maybe even the 3rd, so I have a feeling that's what they'll try to do. Besides, if they did focus on their front 7 in the 1st and 2nd rounds, I think it's understandable. They have to do something, and it's not going to happen via free agency, outside of looking for spares and platooning them like they did last season.

But your facts don't include the possibility of simply cutting AP or trading him.

Oh, and a fact is something known with certainty.

Until that happens, there is no "throwing off the scent" and he is "in play".

That is something that yes, right now, is known with certainty. Period.

If the guy plays at 100% and stays healthy he's just as good if not better than Murray and he has never run behind a line like this. This is a McClain type project and I'm all for it. This is McFaddens chance to change his life around as the RB for the Cowboys on a SB run.

Obviously all our eggs won't be in his basket. This will be very interesting.

I don't see this anything like McClain. Mcclain didn't want to play football anymore. He never lacked production when he played. McFadden isn't a head case with enormous ability who all we need to do is make him want to play football again. He is a guy who couldn't stay healthy in 7 years and when healthy didn't produce. His lack of production is why people are not thrilled with this.

Plus when you lose a grinder who gets most yards after contact like Murray then you are nervous that the team is replacing him with a guy that is always hurt and can't run between the tackles very well.

Now maybe they plan to use him in Joseph Randles role? I think we would all feel a little better about that however I still don't see how he I better than Randle as a change of pace back.

I don't see this move being "praised." Most hate it but it's a no big deal contract at all, IMO. Hardly any guaranteed money and has to "earn" the money. Just don't see the need for the overreaction on the actual deal. Sure, he's been hurt and not good results so far. I view it as a wait and see what happens, may not even be on team. The deal is no risk, IMO.

I agree. I don't see this as some savior move and I do not believe his signing will prevent the Cowboys looking to the draft. As for McFadden he gets a chance to play for a contending team as I said the man has a lot of work to do to get himself ready.

You would have to have insight into the mind's of the Vikings to say it's not a certainty, and unless you're in their front office, you don't know for certain.

You do know, however, that Adrian Peterson is currently under control of the Vikings.

But we shall see how this unfolds.

The risk I see is the team thinking they've accomplished something or that they're any better off than they were last night, because they're not.

And now they're likely out of the business of getting a CJ Spiller or Stevan Ridley, and that in and of itself is a 'risk'.

Not going to read a novel thread. Lol. So will post this.

He adds depth, creates competition. And it may not be done.
We can still get AP if available or options to draft a RB and doesn't have to be in the 1st round.
Murray was a 3rd round pick after all.

Maybe he just needs a change of venue. Murray was often injured too until he got a decent OL.
