When I say this, I am not saying abandon the run nor am I saying go back to having Romo throw 50 times a game. What I am saying is we should lean on Dez a tad more. Plenty of times he would go a whole half with 0-2 receptions. Last year, Dez averaged 5.5 catches a game. I think of we can get that number up to say 8, it would help make up for the loss of Demarco. It will also make the defense play back a little more, giving whoever our new rb is some more space to work with.

Dez will eat.

Just make sure we are giving him his opportunities in the redzone.

Dez isn't going to catch 130 passes next year

You say you don't want to abandon the run
And then out of the other side of your mouth you say you want dez to catch 130 balls

No

We are going to continue running...just w different running backs

Not too worried about forcing the ball to Dez. He'll get his naturally over the course of a game, and if he isn't, it likely means other guys are. It shouldn't be about getting one guys stats up.

I would continue to lean on RUN. In fact even more so if our RB's are fresh. Use Romo judiciously. It's been proven if Romo attempts less than 30 passes per game our winning percentage goes WAY UP.

Explain to me again how getting your best player the ball a few more times a game is abandoning the run? Committees don't work as well a bell cow, that's just a fact. I would like to remain a run first team. That doesn't mean we can't feed Dez the ball a few more times

Dez doesn't have breakaway speed, so he's easy to take away with double coverage.

However, the run game and Beasley made that a death sentence for defenses because it opened up the field.

Dallas MUST draft the right RB, and stick to it.

Personally, I think it could be better than last year. Murray hurt the team at times with his inability to hit home runs, as well as his fumbling.

His pass protection is what will be hardest to replace in his game.

Pass protect and ability to get tough yards. I agree him being slow and fumbling hurt. I also think there is probably a couple of third and shorts that he converted that not many other backs would've

So we should go away from the exact thing they finally got us over the hump, helped take all the weight off Romo's back and made teams commit more to the run which helped open up things for Dez.

It's quite simple. Dez isn't catching 130 passes without being a pass first team

Get it?

Murray is good, but he's infinitely replaceable. We weren't infatuated with him 12 months ago.

When teams start to sell out to stop our committee of RB's, Dez will get single coverage and Boom...

Yes, he is. Better than Murray, in fact, at that. But he's likely not the starter.

I have my own opinion on who the starter will be. I get flamed when i bring his name up though haha

Actually, I'm guessing Beasley has more catches this year than last.

If we don't run as well as last season that will make things tougher on Dez. I don't so how he gets more thrown his way. Probably less.
