Looks like he just got the 500k added with no extension. According to Eatman.

Mincey and the Cowboys came together Sunday morning to end the veteran’s contract holdout. Although Mincey didn’t get more years added to the end of his two-year deal that expires after the season, he did get an additional $500,000 added, pushing his base salary to $2 million. Last year, Mincey came up short on an extra $500,000 in a playing-time bonus that he missed by 11 snaps.

Fact: Guy had a valid contract and zero leverage that was leaking to the tune of 30K per day. Somebody explain to me logically, how the market for 33Y/O D Lineman will be so white hot in 2016 that he needed to be extended now.

valid contract that the team could drop him anytime.
I thought he was 31 and he is productive we get a added year
a year that we can walk away from but if his productive we can retain
his a good complimentary pass rusher

Fair is Fair ........ glad Stephen took care of an over achiever ....... looks good to the young guys ....... if you work hard you will be taken care of ...... even if the team is under no obligation to do it.

Really glad Mincey was not asking for something unfair or harmful to the teams salary cap.

Lol, it always felt to me like he was trying to assume a new identity after ripping this team off, hoping to avoid any repercussions. I can just picture the ridiculous thick black-rimmed glasses/big nose/black mustache mask on him during his initial Bears workout. "Yeah, this is Ja--Jeremiah Ratliff, I'm here to for my workout"

is rat still playing

That's just the reality of signing a free agent who out plays his contract

Don't know where you guys come up with this stuff
Sets a bad precedent and you don't pay past performance
Mincey knew that the team going all in this year and that hardy was out first 4 weeks so he essentially blackmailed the team into getting more money

I didn't think he deserved a raise just after one good year, but it wasn't a big deal to me. It looks like what they did was give him the $500K he missed out on which makes sense.

This isnt a big deal because it shows the cowboys arent screwing players over with snaps so they dont have to pay incentives.

However, in general im not a fan of reworking contracts when players sit out.

Contracts are a guess as to what players are going to be worth. Some will underperform some will overperform. If you pay everyone that overperforms you then are either overpaying players or paying them what theyre worth...there's no value, you're always net negative. That cant work in the salary cap era.

Agreed... not to mention, I have no idea how we're going to afford to resign Greg Hardy if he has a productive season. We will have no cap space to do anything with him.

because Mincey and his 1 year extension is going to break the bank

I'm sold now that this, and Scandrick, was 100% the right move.

After we did Demarco the way we did giving these guys a nice little pay bump in the same offseason is probably the best thing to do.

Still though, I don't feel like we need to make this a habit but this offseason is a good offseason to give some of these guys a raise.

Mincey missed the 500.000 bonus by 11 snaps in the end that is what the Cowboys gave to Mincey. I'm glad to see him back in camp.

What? We did them all the same. We had a predetermined amout of money we were willing to pay each of these players. Mincey and OSan wanted more money but it was still under the predetermined threshold for their position and they got it. Murray wanted way more than the predetermined threshold so he didn't get it from us. You are talking like these decisions being made are pesonal but they are not... it's business.

It's personal to the players. Especially the guys on low deals that see they can get a pay bump if they do step up.

Evidently Mincey was close to a lot of incentives and barely missed them so he didn't get the extra pay.

Also, we may be able to extend Mincey and what a player that would be to have on the cheap for 2 more years.

Good deal all around. I just wish it didn't have to come to a holdout. Hopefully, there are no hard feeling all around, and I doubt there will be. All parties know that it's a business.
