He went back to that jersey when they went to the bold number style beginning in 1986.

I want to say that Mark Stepnoski did something similar during his 2nd stint as a Cowboy. He'd still wear the old white jersey from the early 90s. I remember the #53 on the shoulder pads looked faded out while all others looked fairly new.
