These ex-Cowboys and their infactuation with Chip & Demarco are really pissing me off. They act like we don't have a clue and Philly invented the winning formula. Well...that's Why they play the games. I hope we stomp a hole in their butts.:starspin:

Its seems like all that ESPN and all of the media talks about is the Eagles and the catch. They never mention anything about the Cowboys and how we now have a passrush and that we should be favored to win because we finally shored up our defense. Who cares about Chip and the Beckham catch. I don't. It seems the media is going out of their way to try to write off the Cowboys for some reason. Maybe they hate the Boys that much to even make sure they don't get any coverage at all.

Dude, just stop with the "game is different today" noise. You make it sound like Aikman played with a leather helmet on black and white television. Pretty sure he still has a decent handle on what works today. What the game "different" last year, when we rode a bell cow running back to the division title and should have played in the NFC championship?

it's also a fallacy that aikman didn't want to throw the ball. but they never really had enough receiving options to be so wide open -- and, meanwhile, the triplets approach was working.

Troy's continued obsession with Chip Kelly is bothersome.

Emmitt was better than Murray, but Romo is frankly better than Aikman. I think he equates the two situations wrongly.

LOL real loud

Well, i may not go quite that far either, but you cant deny Tony couldnt have won a couple superbowls with those 90s teams. And i cant think of a romo
team aikman would have won one with

Exactly. Aikman has admitted this, by the way. He thinks Romo is a superb quarterback.

I don't think it's so laughable either. I firmly believe that if Romo was leading those 90s teams, we would still have the same number of SB trophies today. And if Troy were leading some of these recent 8-8 teams, they would probably have ended up about 5-11 because Troy doesn't have the improvisation skills of Romo. In other words, I think Romo has more ability to singlehandedly carry a team than Troy did. Which really doesn't mean much because if your QB is singlehandedly carrying your team, you're not going to win much anyway.

Aikman is right Tony is a super athlete. Tony Romo is a super quarterback
Aikman is a better QB.If both played behind the early 90's oline Aikman would
have been a better decision maker and more accurate up to thirty yards.
Won more money games. Romo would have also won. Romo ain't chop liver.

If Romo gets a Super Bowl, he goes down as one of the all time greats. Otherwise he is Archie Manning....

Romo could have won Super Bowls with Aikman's teams. Aikman would have gone 2-14 with most of Romo's teams.

More like Dan Marino. Romo has surpassed anything Archie Manning ever thought about doing.

Aikman would not do well with some of the poor olines Romo has had.
Aikman would have gone further in the play offs last year with Romo's team.

Troy played QB with Emmitt Smith in the backfield. So he is partial to having a bell cow RB taking the ball 25-30 times a game. It's understandable why he thinks that way.

The game is different today. RRBC is a much more common approach nowadays. I think we will be OK. I guess we will see starting Sunday.

The game is different today....except for last year when we were 12-4.

Sorry, I'm still in the corner that it was a very bad move on the Cowboys part. HOWEVER. I'm happy we got Michael and maybe he will be the main guy this year.

I like Romo but he's not Dan Marino, and the football you are watching today (for QB's) is not the football you watched in the 90's. Not even close. Guys like Aikman and Marino would be mid-70's in completion percentage in today's NFL. Aikman had a 69% season (1993) in an offense that regularly threw the ball down the field. I see so many 3-7 yard throws today (extended running plays) as compared to the league when those guys played, it's not close.

I think Bradford fits Kelly's system passing wise, but he is no threat to run and every single QB that has played for Kelly in the regular season has been injured thus far.

I can see why Kelly liked Bradford. Quick release to throw those WR screens and he's accurate on short and intermediate throws. That can present a big problem.

But, it's out of the spread option look and he's no threat to run so there's no reason why the contain can't go full bore into Bradford and rough him up play-after-play. This makes the running game a little more prone as well. Although I expect a lot more use of receivers running across the formation pre-snap to criss-cross things. And it has been shown, time and time again, that Kelly's offense struggles against top quality defenses. It's too simple to go man-to-man against their offense and if you have good tackling DB's, your WR's can't get open and they can get YAC on the screens. And if the defense is disciplined, they can set up some blitzes here and there and get a free shot on Bradford.

It's a very stoppable offense if you have a somewhat healthy defense and they know what they are doing.
