Where else has it been reported?

Everywhere - ESPN doctors being one, speculation that he'd be out for the season.

Some of you, for some reason, are taking this like it's set in stone. This hasn't changed. 4-6, 6-8, 8-12 weeks has been talked about.

Nothing has changed.

LOL everywhere is not correct. Everywhere we heard 4-8 weeks never 12.

They are aren't gonna rush him back. I wouldn't be surprised with the longer side of the estimates being true.

Just because Rap reported this, doesn't mean it's true. Actually, a bone graft in this type of surgery decreases the healing time, not the other way around. I don't think the timetable has changed from the original 4-6 weeks.

It's reported on the front page of NFL.com. If that isn't good enough then what is good enough?

Again, this isn't new.

Now it's just a bunch of reporters going on about a bone graft. Some think it will push his recovery further, some believe it will speed it up.

Nothing has changed.

This is what happens when sports reporters and Networks can more about being the first to break the "Big news" trying to beat out the other reporters from other Networks reporting it first. Sometimes things don't end up being confirmed or they end up not being true at all or don't end up like how the reporter reported the story.

Is it? We're a week out from the actual injury. Doesn't quite fit the mold of "race to finish line" journalism that you're proposing.

all anyone cares about is being first. Accuracy is not anything important anymore. If you do not see that you are truly deaf dumb and blind

Who else do you want to be reporting this? ESPN and NFL Network are the two big sources. Yes, "everywhere" is an exaggeration, obviously. But again, this isn't new. It's been said, it's been talked about.

Why anyone is taking this as set in stone is beyond me.

Even last Monday it was being reported on The Ticket that he was looking at eight weeks...and they were the only source reporting it that early...I trust their insider connections so while so many were reporting four to six weeks and they weren't I knew something was up and there was more to this than waiting for a screw to heal.

While I agree with some lets not make the mistake that what you see on TV is the entire picture. Dez never disappeared in a game. The defenses rolled safeties to double Dez and that opened up holes in the defense in other places. Romo takes what the defense gives him smartly. Dez never disappears. A game where he has 0 catches still has him making a significant contribution.

Stat lines and fantasy football have ruined fans basic understanding of this game.

I really wasn't demeaning it with Dez.

As you said he gets the defenses attention..

which creates other opps.

What I was really trying to mply is at times he disappeared from the big play stat sheets..

meaning so many expect him to dominate every game.

I don't. Others need their opps too.

There is enough to go around.

So there's nothing good enough? Only when 7 weeks have passed will you believe Dez is out for longer than 6?

I'm not saying he'll be back in 6. He may very well be out for 12. I am saying 1)Rappaport has been wrong - a lot, and 2)I work with athletes every day, and I don't know everything, but I do know that doing a bone graft on a metatarsal fracture typically speeds up the rate of healing. If Dez is out for 10 weeks, you can tell me "I told you so" and I hope it makes you happy.
