Looking at this play if Randle follows the design of the play it's going for some good yards. I think this is a huge frustration for the coaching staff. I'm sure the Oline is frustrated as well even though we don't hear about it. I would point to a play like the one above and say this line can't get any continuity with the RB because the RB doesn't allow it he free lances too much. In my opinion this is where Murray was so good, and the line clicked because they knew he would follow the play and he would setup his blockers.

If Collins continues to play like that and CMike is everything we hope he is mane we can get back to the ground n pound of last year.

IMO this play is a the staple of why the Run game isn't working. Well with Randle. Let's hope this changes

I disagree..in real time speed from what Randle sees he made the right cuts. It's easier said than done.

In real time speed? I mean isn't that what he gets paid for? To make the right decisions in real time speed the rest of us couldn't and can only see on film?

Randle has not seen a lot of daylight this year so i'm sure when he see's a bit of daylight on the cutback he goes for it.

That is what he is taught to do.

What did he miss out on really though... 3 or 4 extra yards?

Vision and patience have never been the worry for me with Randle.

Looks to me like the play called for following Martin and there was nothing there. Randle could either bounce outside left or cut it back, which he did the latter and made something out of nothing.

Nobody on the defense was fooled either.

No. He should've went to the left of Fred then diagonal right. Long gain.

Idk man no offense but that's sort of a cop out, I mean he hasn't seen a lot of daylight so when he did he didn't know what to do with it? We don't know how many yards he missed on because there's no way to know if he's shake a tackler scrambling to recover or if he could have gotten around Free's outside shoulder. This is one play though, so of course it's unfair to judge a guy's vision on one play but idk it's kind of a ball breaker to see a well blocked off play go to waste.

Did it seem to you like he had the outside on the right too? I see that same hole you brought up but it seemed to me like the outside might be there too?

Meh... I think you guys are overrating how well blocked off it was.

T. Freds guy got upfield and when Randle made his read off of it the player T. Smith was blocking had a solid angle initially.

When things are moving that fast I see nothing wrong.

This isn't like some of the gaping holes Murray just missed on. It was completely reasonable for Randle to make the reads he did on this play.

Wait a minute, didn't you say that it was well enough blocked that Randle didn't know what to do when he actually had space? Sorry I might have misunderstood. I thought the same there with Smith, and that Randle cut it back because he didn't either trust or anticipate the block Tyron ended up making. As far as Murray would go I would think he'd take the initial cut back then try and run over the safety but that's just a guess.

No, I didn't say he didn't know what to do.

I'm just saying that the run he made was totally reasonable. He could've got up the field through the middle behind Collins but he chose another route and still got a positive gain.

It look like that play was designed to go to the right, and Randle cut it back to the left. :(

Yup this has been a problem and the leaping against the coaches wishes because on that play he missed a hole as well. That's what got the Oline coach all fired up. Like I said I think the issue with the run game could very well be because Randle free lances too much.

So you're saying he's leaving a lot of meat on the bone. ;) :D

Oh ok, it's not my position but I respect it

It's a zone scheme.

That is how you're supposed to run it.

If you feel like you can't get to the outside or cut it up the field then your next option is to cut back.

You just read the defense and they were all flowing towards Randles Right and he cut it back for a positive gain.
