I like Church. I like what he brings to the football field. Im always seeing him make plays, week in and week out.

Im sure Ive missed some of his missed assignments and gaffes.,......I dont go through the film, etc etc...

But from what I do see, I think he is the kind of guy you want playing on your side.

Both Church and Wilcox take awful angle.

The only reason I don't like this for Byron Jones, is he's been tremendous in that pseudo LB/S role in nickle and dime. It's been one of the few highlights on defense. He may still play that role, but that means Jeff Heath deep, and that is utterly terrifying.

Church is the best tackling safety we have had since Darren Woodson. Not saying he's the best safety but the surest tackling safety. His coverage, meh. You might bring Roy Williams up but I'm not talking hitter, I'm talking pure wrap up tackler. A lost art in todays game. Lee is the best pure tackler on the team.

I liked prime RW31 better than prime 42. Killer Davis was a pretty good tackler as well.

None of them are any good anymore.

I would welcome someone getting a chance to play in his place, but if this means snaps for Jeff Heath or Danny McCray it hurts. Somehow the Cowboys found players worse than Barry Church.

This has been going on all week and its now just news? I read this like on Monday. The only thing that frightens me is.................wait for it............Jeff Heath!

Well, you can expect to see him this Sunday. He played last week and while we didn't hear him making a big play I didn't hear/see him getting torched repeatedly.

Here comes the Barry Church lynch mob.
In before people start saying he sucks and B Jones will take his job.

It is not a matter of Church sucks. The truth about Church is that his lack of speed and physical talent has always made him a liability in coverage and limited his ability to make plays. IMO he has always had borderline talent , but his effort made up for his limited ability to a point. Age erodes the talent that he has, and I this he is more of a backup type of player. I don't think there are many teams that he could start for. His tackling ability has diminished over the last couple of years as well. Jones and Wilcox would improve the speed in defense and make the safety positions younger with a brighter future. I have nothing against Church, but he has always made the position where it should be upgraded as long as he was the starter. I think Jones is the upgrade on the back end that will improve the defense and Wilcox can start which will add some speed to the position and Wilcox has the talent to improve in the next few years.

Listen..

We were so charmed last year with injuries and guys like Romo, Murray and Dez having career years..

any injuries was going to change things.

Take all three away for whatever reason..

..and the fall is long and quick.

We did the same thing in 2007 and then the following season..2008..

we took a big step back, too.

I replayed a game from last year against Seattle and we were a completely different team from the one Sunday.

Tough to handle as a fan..

but par for the course as a Dallas fan.

Hmm, who do you cover Graham with if you put Jones at FS for this game?

I really want to see what he has at FS, but Jones has done a great job in the TE covering role, I don't think I'd mess with it this game.

Shadow Graham with Jones, put Wilcox at FS, and slide Heath in at SS and keep him primarily in the box for run defense.

They don't have many options in the passing game, so I'm not really too concerned with them trying to take advantage of Heath.

Much more concerned with Graham and I'd want Byron following him around the field. I'm not sure what they're going to do yet, but that's what I'd do. Put Byron at FS against the Eagles.

Graham is having a bad year... He and Wilson do NOT have good chemistry. The answer to how to cover Graham is to get loads of pressure on Wilson and I think we can do that.

Shadowing Graham with Jones is overkill.

I'd put Jones as the single high safety, move Wilcox down as a "rover" and let him disrupt the running game as a hybrid LBer. Wilcox is better closer to the LOS. Man up on the outside, let Lee run with Graham, and send the DL up the field.

I'm only talking about the angles he takes.
