This team needs to evaluate some players

I know people don't like the idea of playing for next year, but this season appears done. This team has a lot of holes that they need to fill. They most likely new a new MLB, WLB, CB and SS or FS and SS depending on where Jones plays next year, a 1 tech, and an upgrade at RB would not hurt. Church and Wilcox are terrible and the coaching staffs refusal to move on from them is embarrassing. I wouldn't mind starting Jones at FS and starting White at SS. The safeties have blown coverage assignment after coverage assignment. I think taking Church out at SS would hurt the run defense a little but he has been an absolute liability in coverage. Wilcox has been an abomination and there is no reason to write about his play. I think playing Jones and White would significantly improve the safety range. Patmon would have to start at nickleback from here on out and Dallas would have to bring someone up from the practice squad or poach someone to be the fourth corner. Church and Wilcox should be moved to special teams where I think they would help immensely. Rolando McClain is a turd. This team should cut him now. How can you show up at 270 lbs? Then he intentionally has knee surgery too late so he can skip training camp. Unlike Hardy he was allowed on the team facilities during his suspension. He still showed up out of shape. Cutting him would send a message that loafing will not be tolerated. I would start Sean Lee at MLB when he comes back from his concussion and move Hitchens to the weakside. I don't think Lee can stay Healthy, but Hitchens showed a lot of promise last year. I say start him at his best spot let Wilson back up Lee and play Wilson at MLBer if Sean Lee gets hurt again. This team needs to evaluate these linebackers and see if they can play or not. I don't know what this team can do at 1 tech. I would consider poaching two promising 1 techs from other teams practice squads and playing them the rest of the year. This team needs to stop neglecting that position. In this case Stephen Jones and Jerry Jones do need to meddle because this position is having a trickle down effect on the rest of the Dline. I would poach Kerry Hyder from Detroit, Deandre Coleman from Denver, and cut useless players like Clutts, Heath, or Danny McCray to make room. They need more beef at DT and Maranelli's stubbornness is costing them.

Lastly I would give Christine Michael a lot more touches. At least 15 touches a game. McFadden is not the problem but everyone has this team drafting a running back in the next draft. I think Michael has very good physical talent but Linehan's reluctance to play him makes no sense anymore. We need to find out if this team needs a running back. Having Michael play well and allowing this team to skip running back would allow this team to revamp this defense. I honestly think Michael would outperform McFadden right now. Even though McFadden is suppose to be faster, he does not accelerate very fast and is more of a long strider. Michael is not fast but explodes into top speed very quickly.

I know people may not like this idea, but the coaching staff needs to move on. We need to find out if we can find some solutions to these holes on this current roster. It will cost a few games but there is not much difference between 6-10 or 8-8.

I'd be playing Jones at FS and White in the slot when he's able to return. If Hitchens is able to go, I'd start him at MLB at this point and see where we're at. Gachkhar I thought played ok in his reserve role on defense. He can fill in there at least until Lee can come back. If Lee's really out 2-6 weeks, we're in trouble. Other than Hitchens, these other LBs aren't playing at a high enough level to get anything done.

Agree with benching Cassell and play Moore to see if he is worth keeping on the roster.

Regarding the off-season, the Offense is full of "if's" and "maybes"
Offense:
QB: Let both back-up QB's walk via free agency.Consider Cassel if cheap 1-year deal. It's probably time to find QB-of-the-future if one is available.
RB: McFadden and Michael are under contract for next year. If a great RB falls into our laps on draft day, pull the trigger.
WR: Everyone is under contract for next year. Could maybe think about getting a better #2, but Romo makes WR's better than they actually are.
TE: All 4 are under contract for next year.
OL: Bernadeau is finally a free agent and Leary is restricted. Everyone is else back. If Chaz Green doesn't show anything, team could consider drafting Free's eventual replacement.

The Defense on the other hand, is full of "musts"
Defense:
DE: Greg Hardy is a free agent, but due to the pictures being released, we may be negotiating against ourselves. Jeremy Mincey is a free agent. Demarcus Lawrence must improve at LDE or the team needs to go out and find one. Randy Gregory must bulk up.
DT: Tyrone Crawford must find his heart again. Nick Hayden must go. The idea that a 1Tech isn't important, must be abandoned.
LB: Must be addressed. I've been Rolando's biggest fan since he came here but it doesn't seem like he's playing hard this year. Sean Lee is one of my favorite current Cowboys, but the poor guy can't be counted on to stay healthy. Anthony Hitchens seems ordinary this year. Damien Wilson hasn't shown anything. Gachkar is a JAG. Wilber is a JAG and a free agent.
CB: Claiborne is a free agent and Carr's cap number next year is ridiculous. Orlando Scandrick and Byron Jones will factor in, but the team must go out and get 1 or 2 new CB's. Corey White is also a free agent.
S : Same problem for years, team must address if they want to stop losing games late. This is a passing league, you can't take shortcuts at safety. Cutting Church saves the team significant cap room. Byron may be a savior here, but I think team wants him at CB. JJ Wilcox needs to be moved to strong safety. Team must bring in a true free safety and consider bringing in a strong safety to compete with Wilcox. Jeff Heath must go.

The defense needs to stop relying on an oft-injured LB as the signal caller of the defense. Lee needs to move to another LB spot to where when he goes down it doesn't become an automatic train wreck. I'm afraid Wilcox is a lost cause. Isn't this his 3rd year where he is supposed to show a big improvement? Instead he's regressed and needs a protractor to determine running angles. As I mentioned in another post, McClain looks like he used the entire offseason to watch Netlix and order cheese sticks from a pizza place. The defense needs leaders but the only 1 I see is Lee and you can't count on him.

On offense, I've seen enough of TWill. I'd rather see if Devin Street can stay inbounds during the course of a game instead or better yet, Butler.

I hope you had fun but we've been saying this for years and they're doing it slowly but surely.

You can't flip a whole team all at once.

I think the protractor reference is a first for the forum.. Havent thought about one of those since high school.
