agreed. he ran DM to death and it worked. plus he had
coach/player Romo to hide all the flaws and make his magic.

this season garrett has had neither and has been exposed

Post of the day!! Truth

There's plenty of teams with poor QBs. Not many that have failed to win a game this year, which is where Dallas is at without Romo.
This is what's incredible to me. You've got teams like the Browns, Bucs, Skins, Jags, etc. winning games. We go 0-7 without Romo and would probably be 0-9 if he'd been out for the first two weeks too. And yet the Romo injury will give this sorry mess of a franchise an easy excuse to maintain the status quo.

Scoreboard doesn't lie, and the HC has to be responsible for the performance of his team. But there are lots of different reasons why a team can lose multiple games like we have, and not all of them are necessarily related to caching. You can keep saying it, it doesn't change the fact.

There are a lot of good coaches who have had losing seasons.

A lot of bad ones too...

How many more routes/plays that get us 1 yard short of a first down on 3rd downs are we going to see this year?

Agree to disagree on the problem being Jason Garrett. And think more about what Jimmy's actually saying there in that argument you're making, because he's probably not saying that the issue is coaching (I haven't heard the specific clip, so I'm basing that off of what Jimmy's said in the past because I know from experience he usually hints the issue is with Jerry).[/quote]

I could say that the list of coaches who've had no losing seasons in 5 years is short, as well. He was 5-3 in 2010, for the record.

Put it this way...hypothetically, if we had Tony Romo in the games all this time, and played the same games with the same play calls....the only difference being that it's Romo making the adjustments at the line and making the throws. And, for argument's sake, let's say we make that extra play or two in each of these games and win the 5 of them that were in serious contention, putting us at 7-2 and not 2-7....would that mean that Jason Garrett is then a good coach and not a bad one, after all?

I'd submit that it wouldn't. That the won/loss equation in the NFL is complicated, and you have to look specifically at all aspects of the wins and the losses to see who's doing a good job, who is not, and who's got significant room for improvement. If I were seeing bad coaching or bad play calling contributing to losing games, I'd put it on Garrett and the coordinators. But that's not what I'm seeing. So I put the issue on personnel, instead, because that's where I'm seeing the biggest limitations right now.

A GOOD coach gets the most out of his players. You trying to say that red ball is doing that?

LOL. So you go right to, "list of coaches who have no losing seasons in 5 years is short" as if that refutes the point? Why go to extreme?

Facts are facts. He's been the full time head coach for 5 years. In 5 years, he's had a winning season only once. Once.

The fact you can sit there with a straight face and say you don't see bad coaching is strange. You essentially are hanging your hat on this whole Romo angle ignoring the fact that other backups have been used to pull out wins here or there and yet we seemingly can't with what apparently you think is a good head coach.,

Honestly, you are so far gone at this point, I suspect even if he had losing seasons for the next two seasons, you'd find a way to defend him.

I agree with everything you said. But some coaches can win in spite of there Owner's, ie. Parcells, and most recently Harbaugh.

!) Parcells didn't win here. He rebuilt the team into a playoff contender with a future but he didn't win.

2) In order for Parcells to get anything accomplished in Dallas he had to have the owner back off and walk on egg shells. Give a little respect back to the position of head coach. He could do no better than Garrett under this same set of circumstances. He knew it too, which is why he had to have those concessions from the owner before signing off on coaching here. You can't change the culture without the owner changing. Temporarily he did, as much as his mental illness allowed, and the Cowboys actually improved under his ownership for a change, but as soon as Bill was out the door it was right back to submissive crossdressers for head coaches who make sure they're on time for Jerry's coaching staff meetings.

I just won't waste a single second of my time worrying about who is coaching this team as long as nothing changes above that coach. It's like that scene in Back to the Future 2 when Doc is explaining to Marty why they can't go forward in time to repair the timeline. They must go back to where it skewed into the alternate reality. It's the same with the Cowboys. Going forward with a new coach and assistants every 4 years will do nothing. We must go back and fix that decision that caused the Dallas Cowboys to skew into an alternate reality. One where they aren't winners collecting titles. Where they aren't one of the top franchises in all of sports. Where we can no longer be proud of being a Cowboys fan. Where it's actually become a punchline from fans all across the league. The day Jerry Jones decided he and his son were football guys capable of running the football operations on this team until death do they part.

But good head coaches seldom make the playoffs as infrequently as Garrett. Point being, in the aggregate, the evidence does not indicate Garrett is a good head coach.

I think a big part of it is that (as far as I know) AP hasn't been involved in anything else that could continue to label him as a bad guy.
