ESPN: Brandon Weeden takes shot at Jerry Jones and Jones likes it

Weeden being best in 'relief', is accurate IMO. He did well when Romo went down against the Eagles this season, going 7 for 7 with 1 TD. He did the same last season when Romo went down...but then looked liked crap against a good Arizona team as the starter. And in that game, he had Dez, Murray, Dwayne Harris, Dunbar, Witten, Williams, Beasley, etc.

Against the Colts, he came into the game in relief...and did well for the Texans. Then, he won a game as a starter against arguably the worst team in the league.

His success as a starter isn't sustainable. The article also mentioned that Hoyer will take over as the starter once he clears concussion protocol.

Jerrah is taking a direct shot at his own coaching staff:

"I don't have an answer for that," he said. "I really don't have an answer. ... Our read on him that he was better coming into a ballgame, but the whole week of preparation and getting ready to play was where his inexperience and whatever was showing. This wasn't the case here. He had the whole week that Houston could prepare and I give their staff and give him their due. Good job."

Jerrah isn't mad at Weeden because in a way he feels vindicated. He said Weeden could get the job done and now he is basically saying it was the coaching that has made the difference between Dallas and Houston.

i hope you're dead right about reading between the lines with the Jerah speak.

Who knows lol

I sense though that Jerrah isn't happy with the coaching. It's the one area he hasn't gone out of the way to justify or explain in his ramblings lately. Doesn't mean he'll do anything about it though - I don't think he will this offseason at least.

Why did we dump a "solid and steady" guy for Matt friggin Cassel then?

with him at the helm teams dared our scheme/him to go deep and so they only had to cover the middle/front. i know u know but just sayin.

sure he was hampered by the staff here with JG the main culprit.

Jones was asked during the radio interview why the Cowboys couldn't get the same production out of Weeden.

"I don't have an answer for that," he said. "I really don't have an answer. ... Does that mean that Weeden was fine without having a gameplan or a week of coaching? What does this mean?

I don't see how an qb could be better coming in cold as opposed to a weeks practice.

That makes no sense to me.

Of course consider the source.

Shoulda, woulda, coulda. Sounds like the entire season. You can look around and point the finger at many persons. If you do that under a rainbow all will be well.

You'd like to think that Jones would question why O'Brien could seemingly get more out of Weeden and how other coaches are getting more out of their backups than Garrett, but I suspect when push comes to shove, loyalty will win out and Jones will rationalize why Garrett deserves to continue despite his clear screw ups.

He did say that specifically. "We have to Coach them up better after seeing him win elsewhere".

Jones has 24 million reasons to continue to believe in Garrett

When Weeden replaced Yates facing a 10-0 deficit, he didn't even throw a single pass with the first team in practice, and mentioned that not everyone knew his name. This is on top of, you know, not even being a Texan a month before that. Apparently the Texans basically playing "throw up tackle" with Weeden is able to put up more points than the Cowboys.

Good luck to Weeden. I wish him the best. Should have stuck with baseball because he really sucks as a QB. Dude couldn't keep a job as a backup. Shout from the rooftop if anybody keeps you on the roster next year.

Better coaching. Better receivers.
