For those of you in the Dallas area.

My fiance and I are night owls. She gets home from work around 1030p (oh, the life of an analyst) and we're usually up until 2 or so.

We love to go drive around at night, but are slowly running out of drives to take and things to do. We have a 1 year old, so bars aren't really an option during the week, unless we get a sitter (which we do sometimes).

Do any of you have any nice drives you like to take, know of any cool places to go to that are open late, know of any cool parks we could go wander around in, or anything else interesting we can go do at night? We don't mind driving an hour or so. Hell, that's half the fun.

Baby friendly and late night are usually a pretty hard find, so if any of you have any ideas, please post them!

Any other adventurous night owls out there?

That actually sounds a bit dangerous with a one year old.

I'll give it some thought though

Well we have both lived here for a long time and know what areas of town to avoid.

I mean, we aren't looking for trails in dark woods to wander or going jogging in the wrong parts of town.

Went to a Monday Night game there, had to be the early 90s. Got lost on the way back and ended up heading to Houston instead of OKC as well as a nice visit to a bad area. Never again, be careful.

There are some bad parts of town, for sure. We've been here long enough to know where to steer clear of.

Oak cliff... That's my hood... Put it in your face get that **** understood! :flagwave:

My finance and I lived in Dallas for 1.5 years. We stayed off of 75/lovers and we would do night walks/runs at white rock but I'm not sure how it is now. You could consider taking the Katy trail or that trail off of Lemmon (ironically where that ex a&m football player stabbed that guy.) that area is usually really lit up. There is also a pretty decent park in Webb Chapel that has a bike trail. It's off of northwest highway past the tollway going west.

Isn't this how people end up having their corpses unwittingly aired on episodes of 'The First 48'? I don't like venturing out into any city past midnight save those areas that are crowded, well lit, and have a noticeable police presence.

Really?

I'll say it again. I'm from here and know where to go and not go. I was just looking for some advice and input to see if there is anything going on later at night that I've never heard about.

My sense of humor is very dry and often goes unnoticed in an online environment, it really wasn't a veiled criticism of your decision to venture out at night, I promise you.

Then you have my sincere apology. It just bordered very close to the questioning my parental skills thing, which strangely enough becomes a big deal when you're a parent. Hah. Carry on sir, and sorry again. :)

Ive always been a night owl (I stay up til 4 or 5 am) since high school, but over the past few years Ive gotten to the point where I really hate drivin at night...and I used to love it, especially if we were headin down to Dallas or Ft. Worth.......but nowadays, Im always sayin to my wife "C'mon lets go I wanna get home before it gets dark" lol.....gettin old i guess....

I personally like the drive between Ft. Worth and Dallas on 30.....Just seein Ft. Worth and then Cowboys Stadium, Rangers Ballpark, Hurricane "Wet n Wild" Harbor, Six Flags, Ripleys/Wax Museum, Lonestar Park and then comin into Dallas.....tons of memories, childhood and adulthood both....

I don't know. Maybe it's because I grew in South irving, but I used to buy my weed at a trap house in West dallas in high school (the 90's), have hung out in oak cliff numerous times, and also in the grove. None of those places scare me. And I'm a white boy.

Back to the thread. I don't know. There aren't really any cool places to drive to other than a bar. There's a lookout area at the airport on Airfield drive you can go and watch planes fly closely over you, but I'm not sure that's a good idea for the young one. You could drive over the dam at Lake Grapevine, I suppose.

I'm pretty sure if you're a corpse, having your wits about you, is at minimum secondary on your to-do list.

LOL at "Trap house" reference.. The other day I tweaked the Trap Queen/Night line bling songs to upset my lady, she bit.

"You used to call me on my "Trap phone."

She was like WHO?!!!
