Cowboys interested in Bilal Powell

Why do you think that?

He's not close to being as explosive as Dunbar in the passing game.

Powell is definition of jag... I've seen every game he's played in here with the Jets. Chris Ivory was night and day the better back.

That's probably true but on the other hand, he's more productive and he is bigger so he's able to hold up a little better. I think both have advantages but I don't know if I would go so far as to say he's a downgrade. I think it depends on what you are looking for and what you place value on.

If I were a betting man, I'd be inclined to wager the Pats and Ravens will outbid Dallas for Powell's services. At least, we're appearing to be relevant by throwing our hat in the ring -- lol.

...Because Ivory is a rushing, starting RB in this league. Powell is a utility back, a scat back.

Lance Dunbar has been injured 2 out of the last 3 years, and wasn't all that special in 2014. Powell at least showed in 2013 and 2015 he can be an effective runner and receiver. I will say, Powell has shown more than Dunbar. So, if Powell is a JAG, I can only imagine the label Dunbar would get.

I don't know why this team never adds any veteran pass rush help.

They love relying on a few good players(upfront) and the rest scraps!

I agree, if they are looking for lightning in a bottle Powell isn't the guy. Billal is a fine player but why not grab a couple veteran defensive linemen to see if we can score big with one them. Plus whatever happened to the idea of having a 330 pound DT in the middle to stuff the run. If we can add a guy like that and get a veteran who can contribute 6-8 sacks that would be a defense I would really enjoy watching as a fan!

What was Mincey and Hardy?

So, is it "Veteran defensive lineman" or "High priced veterans"?

Where and who are these sources that say these teams including the Cowboys are interested in him.
Probably some agent trying to drum up business and hopefully start a bidding war. That's never happened
before has it?

He won me my FF league this year. One hell of a waiver wire pickup.

That's all I know about him. Good pass catching back

It happened yesterday!

Leodis McKelvin's agent used the Cowboys name to get a few more bucks for his player from the Eagles. They had a 'visit planned' but never left.

Which is actually smart since most of the league knows, if a player visits the Ranch, they usually never leave if the Cowboys are that interested.

When you are dumpster diving, sometimes there is great competition.

When's the last big name guy to come visit and we signed? Carr?

I don't count Hardy. He had little to no interest from other teams

I'm sorry but I have to call it like I see it. The Cowboys are way to obsessed with signing scrubs. And while people will continue to defend the front office, this is exactly why this team has only one a handful of playoff games in 20 years...

Sadly, there is a small list of receiving backs in this years FA. It's either you replace Dunbar's skill with a more well-rounded back, or you pick up someone like Powell. Players like Riddick and Woodhead are still under contract for another year.

This doesn't discredit what I'm saying. We simply have changed our stance on bringing in high priced FA, this isn't a bad thing at all. Many teams, including Packers and Steelers, stay away from the first wave FA market.

Want an example? Collins is one. Collins didn't have to sign with us, Collins didn't even have the position handed to him and knew he wouldn't due to Leary and still chose us. If Jones wants a player and they make it to Valley Ranch, they will be signed. That's sometimes a good thing and sometimes a bad thing.

Using the "Cowboys are interested in us" is smart.

It is a good negotiating tactic and seems to happen often. Whether the player has any intention to visit or not.

we're just starting. i would have to think we're going to add / change it up some before it's over with.
