Eric Ogbogu! We must protect this house!!! And Jerry will try to sell him like he is Charles Haley 2.0...same thing different year. What have we done to get better? We don't sign FA's that are worth a damn, but because they put the star on we are automatically supposed to think they are good!?!? So disappointing year after year. I feel bad for young Cowboys fans who don't even know what the 90's were like. Shout out to them for still being fans because this organization has been a mess for 20 years. Ok sorry, my rant is done.

I largely agree but what gets termed "negativity" here is actually "fact" and "reality". I don't think that viewing things factually and realistically and stating your opinion is bad for your health

Just my .02

You should read more of his posts. All that comes out of his posts are negative. (he sux, you suck, they suck, she sucks) -0.01 from your total! ;)

More than likely they believe Joey Bosa is the the pick and will probably start opposite Demarcus Lawrence. When week 5 rolls around Gregory will be back and take most of the passing situation snaps. They will probably go with the Lawrence,Bosa,Crawford,Gregory in a rotation after week 5.

Don't know where they get those snaps Gregory will get the first 4 games assuming Bosa is even the draft pick.

I think it is a mistake to even bank on Gregory's return.

We did that nonsense with both Hardy and McClain.

You can't build a team relying on undependable suspended players to return and contribute.

Quintin Coples is someone we should definitely be looking at. More than capable SDE who can provide a little pass rush as well.

Andre Branch is another guy who was a decent prospect coming out of the draft who could be worth bringing in.

Those 2 + resigningn J Crawford would come at a relatively minimal cost and I would actually fell pretty good about the line going into the draft.

DE- Lawrence, Coples, Branch, 2nd round pick, Gregory
3 Tech- T Crawford, Irving, J Crawford
1 Tech- Thornton, 4th round pick

By no means great...but could be good enough with some guys stepping up

There aren't a lot of lines that scare most people in the league, but that line is more than serviceable and could get the job done.

Especially if we hide our defensive warts by controlling the Time of Possession, which we did in '14.

This is about all that is left in the barrel, either have to go with one of the solid vets Long/Jones/Tapp or hoping one of the younger guys get it together in new scenery/system Coples/Branch/Wootton.

Chris Long 30, 54.5 carrier sacks, hurt the last 2 years.

Jason Jones 29, 28 carrier sacks, looks like Phins may be interested

Quinton Coples 25 had 16.5 sacks first 3 years in the league, now the bust work is being spoken

Jeremy Mincey 32, we know him

Darryl Tapp 31, has 27.5 carrier sacks

Andre Branch 26, had 6 sacks in 2013 for the Jags

Corey Wootton 28, had 7 sacks in 2012 for the Bears

Would prefer Long, Jones or Branch.

I think the original plan was to sign Clayborn on the cheap and then match him with a rookie, but Clayborn got a bigger contract then we thought he would. My guess is the Rod and Lett are going over tape right trying to figure out which of the guys above can turn into what we had from Mincey in '14. I would not be surprised if the pick at 4 is Bosa, but I also would not be surprised if Nassib is the pick in the 2nd or 3rd round.

Having a balanced football team makes both units seem a lot better than they really are. It's not really about having elite talent all over but minimizing weaknesses.

We saw how balanced this football team was without Romo in the game. Yeah, you're going to hurt without your starting QB and WR banged up, but when those are your only two major injuries and you turn into not only the worst scoring offense in the NFL, but tie a league record of turnovers forced on defense, your team isn't very balanced.

I agree a strong run game will help, but we also had a lot of bounces go our way in 2014 and our defense still got torched against a better NFC team. You still need to stop the pass.

It'll be an interesting off-season from here on out though.

Brutal but true.

Take a look at the top DEs chosen over the past five years and a clear pattern emerges, it takes them several seasons to make an impact.

Even the two best in Ansah and Chandler Jones took a year or two to make themselves forces to be reckoned with.

It is a hard position to scout and the bust rate is absolutely huge.

It is even harder for the prospect to learn what it takes to be an impact pass rusher in this league.

Khalil Mack and JJ Watt had 9 sacks combined as rookies
