In an amazing turn of events, Myles Jack is the only ironman in the NFL. Plays RB and nickel LB/S.

I want to say Morris but McFadden offers more in the passing game as a receiver and protector.

It's a tough call.

I think that it really depends on the defense they're facing. I'm not opposed to having them rotate starts based on that

yea, and I said it last year and he proved me wrong. but he has both his personal history and the general history of the position working against him.

That is true. But injuries just happen and because of Morris we should be able to limit his carries

McFadden or Morris?

I haven't watched too much of Morris except when the Cowboys played the skins. I know he's a good downhill runner but I'm not too sure how well he can block. If it turns out McFadden is the better blocker, maybe Morris starts and DMC comes in on 3rd down and passing situations.

Either way, I see them evenly splitting carries as the skill set each one brings is different. DMC is speed and Morris is power. I think whoever is the better blocker and who can pick up the blitz better will be the 3rd down back, as bass ackwards as that seems.

ZEKE.

on a team coming off 4-12 there should be very few starting jobs carved in stone. Guy need to go out and earn their playing time.

I was thinking more along the lines of 'The Last Boy Scout'

Running game last year was one of the very few (OL too) that played well.

I agree but I would still expect RB and pretty much the entire team go out and earn their jobs. I just have a tough time handing jobs to a team coming off 4-12. I think guys need to re prove themselves.

DMC will be the starter with Morris getting 10-12 touches behind him and Dunbar getting in on packages. A rookie will not see the field until one of these guys gets hurt around mid-season.

I disagree on several counts. First off, I don't believe Morris is a "better" fit for Dallas' ZB scheme. I think they are on equal footing there.

Secondly, McFadden has never been a productive back with a minimal number of carries like you're suggesting. He performed exceptionally last year in games where he had 15 or more carries.

Third, don't look for a Turbin-type back to replace Dunbar. Dunbar's role, which is very important in Linehan's offense, requires a shifty, quick, fast, "scatback". Turbin (or anyone like hm) is not a fit for the role. Dunbar has his place on the team solidified, unless the Cowboys draft the Ervin kid. He's the only one coming out in the draft that fits that particular physical profile.

As for who gets the starting nod, I think it's truly up in the air. It's McFadden's job to lose right now, but that does not mean that he WON'T lose it

When I say Turbin type I mean he is basically free. No picks or high salary but someone cut loose but isn't a liability in the passing game. Someone like Reggie Bush or Joique Bell.

I think McFadden starts but I could see where Morris could get as many carries as him. I think they make a pretty decent combo and if Dunbar could stay healthy I think the team would feel pretty good at that position. The key word is could but hope better describes Dunbar and McFadden not getting injured but McFadden is the starter for me

I'm hoping both can top 1000+yds in one way or another. I think both are capable if the QB situation isn't a mess.

MCFadden at least has earned the nod, but Id be willing to bet he gets hurt in TC/Pre-Season......He's overdue.....

He earned the nod when Randle got injured then released but wasn't very effective in some important games. Some are making a big deal about his 4.6 rushing average but it's misleading because that average was mainly due to the last few games of the season when the Cowboys were done and some of their opponents were done. He averaged 6.3 vs the Jets, 5.2 vs Buffalo and 7.7 vs a Washington team that Kellen Moore put up over 400 yards on due to them packing it in preparing for the playoffs.

Against Green Bay in week 14 McFadden averaged 12.3 a carry due to a 50 yard run. Despite those averages we lost all those games. When the Cowboys still had a chance earlier in the season McFadden had some awful games where he averaged under 2 and 3 yards a carry. The Cowboys aren't going to want McFadden carrying the ball as much he had a career high last season and he's bound to get injured. I expect a rotation with him Morris and whoever else they may add to the mix for short yardage.
