Feel like reppin Gangstarr right now

Just To Get A Rep

Jazz Thing

Positivity

Mass Appeal

Speaking of real streets; DC OG Montana; DC Gorilla Family;)

No where on the level of Gang Starr, just acknowledging some should be aware of this rule in modern game as it obvious to some and not to "others", etc. In Summary: be aware of where you are and who you are dealing with (not what they show on TV/Movies). Something as simple as spitting on the street from your car (harmlessly, etc.) can have gunshots sprayed at your car (more of a warning).

Rural area to avoid: Rainelle, WV. Mom is from nearby town and stayed in a hotel there recently and was warned by the clerk that my car might be broken into bc of my DC plates? Meth labs knowingly overlooked by LE, broad daylight robberies and burglaries. I grew up in DC 80s/90s and was scared in that town (not stereotype bigot references) "Get me the F outta here..."

Man, NWA, & Dre heavy influence...
forgot about these cats...

Home of Gangsta Rap...NY got them beat but respect for putting their own touch on the genre to express some of the anger more directly, etc. Definitely influenced Memphis theme UG. DC definitely has a 'streets inferiority complex' going on with NY; same applies to B-More. Cop your fashion, incorporated "son" in street talk in the late 90s w classics like Yungin (despite age) and Bama (obv you just came to DC from the country initially, but then morphed into 'anywhere but DC' by mannerisms and dress), Lunchin; making the whole room laugh bc of outside the box humor, or "you wrong man, you wrong," etc.

Like me some Montana, but Piff's flow is pretty weak admittedly; tries a Styles P style but is limited. :D That clip was mainly to stress the story bw the cop and the crew member getting "busted" and extorted by DC LE to put his life on the line; you don't need to cooperate to be killed by your own crew. Happened ALOT (Rayful Edmund's crew) and explains how the 3rd strike rule was used in a knowingly extortive manner on the streets that led to a lot of the homicides in the DC and later PG areas of the city. Witness cooperation/"protection" was being infiltrated by the crews themselves with LE and why the city had such a high murder rate at the time. Of course, started with crack cocaine and "the dipper" aka PCP epidemics...

Our laws (being a Federal city rather than a state) make our laws "mainly" in the hands of the H of Rs; you can see where the problems may have stemmed from in the 80s and throughout the 90s bf gentrification;) Now, residents have more of a say. We passed MJ legalization in the late 90s (overwhelming supported by residents by two thirds) but was quickly overturned in the house. Now, it's legal.
