So if you go to the movies, to be entertained, do you like the movie no matter what? Even if it wasn't what you expected or hoped it to be?

I doubt it, but heck of a try.

You know they signed the Wookie guy to come back for the next Star Wars movie! What a bunch of losers! They probably paid him JaJa Binks money.

The quiet truth is, Jeff Heath is an exceptional player at what he is supposed to do on this team. Special teamer and dime safety.

He's Bill Bates or Kenny Gant.

Lower the bar enough and every play becomes, "exceptional".

No, that's too much but if would have extended him bf he hit the market it would have been nice.

It would have been nice. But from my perspective, it was clear that Harris wanted to test the market and have an opportunity to play more WR. Extending beforehand would have required Harris to agree to that. I don't think was interested in that.

I've been meaning to rewatch that game on NFL GP. It was really the only game of the season where we somewhat played like a team. I remember McFadden and the O-line closing out the game like bosses.

So true, I forget the announcers name, but he mentioned a few times in the 4th quarter when we had the lead "This is where the Cowboys miss Murray, to close out the runs in the 4th quarter". He finally shut up since McFadden was pounding the rock to close out that game.

Yikes. 4 years seems a long time for ST guy who you should be upgrading from. Kinda removed the desire to work hard with that contract.

Strange what this FO does at times. Over pay for Beasly but let Harris walk.

Haven't taken the time to research the numbers, but assuming we didn't go overboard, I'm 100% behind this signing. Average depth, great ST's guy, you need a few of those types on every roster.

No. Bill Bates was a really good special teams player, who played in some nickel and dime packages. Most Cowboy fans appreciated his toughness and heart. But please, don't let me interrupt your whine fest, do continue.

I bet you have Bates right above Woody, huh?
Overrated but a fan favorite, mate!
Bates' best achievement, aside from running that motel, was producing the "Kick Butt" T-shirts during the Cowboys' first Super Bowl year under Jimmy Johnson. Yeah, the year Bates was injured -- most of the season.

Stay in the rant zone, please. When you're whining about signing Jeff Heath, you have other issues you need to sort out.

Thanks for telling me what and where to post.

This is the Jeff Heath thread so I'll go ahead and post here.

Stop signing off on everything the Cowboys do. Buy a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader uniform and some pom-pom's and scream at the top of your lungs "Go Cowboys". It truly helps the team

Has anybody seen the contact numbers?

The only thing I saw was the he will be paid $1.67 million this year. After that, I think we're giving him discount coupons to Six Flags for the next three years.

Just remember, a four year deal at the vet minimum would be around 3m without a signing bonus. Probably going to be something along the lines of 4 years, 6m total, with maybe 1m signing bonus.

That was the tender amount he signed as an RFA....I bet his cap hit will be lower this year than that. I am thinking a couple years with salary in 750k-1.25m range and somewhere between 250-500k per year in pro rata sb. Maybe first 2 years guaranteed.
