Lynch vs Prescott

Big questions are accuracy and going through progressions.
If he has shown more accuracy with mid/long range passe, he is a 1st round pick...
Lets hope he develops.

I do think the dual threat with our OL/running game makes Dak more likely to be at least a quality backup in our system.
Defense will always have to commit resources to stop Elliott and worry about Dak taking off.
Defense may need a spy on Dak and 8 in the box to stop Zeke...

So Dak has these advantages over Lynch and probably has a higher floor over Lynch
But Lynch is more accurate and more likely to become a franchise QB.

Lynch is .02 more accurate playing lesser talent

i think it was quoted that 80% of Dak's passes are 3 yards or less.
so he has shown less accuracy because you cannot count most of his passes.

believe me, i want dak to work out.
i personally, with what little i know, prefer Dak over Lynch given their draft positions.

if i want to go trade up, i rather bet the farm on goff who is much lower risk.
i think goff has a good chance to be top 10 or perhaps top 15 QB.
that may be good enough with our OL and a good running game.

then we could be set for 10-15 years but we do lose our dominant ground game for 2016.
obvious you cannot get elliott if you trade for goff.
but it is easier to get a rb than a qb, and next draft may have 3 1st round rbs (though we would have that 1st round pick).

You implied you think he can be better than Lynch. Im just telling you that the experts and the Cowboys brass disagree with you.

I did not mean to imply that Dak is better than Lynch. I just think we dodged a bullet by not giving up what would have been required to get someone that is just as big of a project as the guy we did get. Both these guys have a ton to learn and the potential for being a bust on big on both of them. However, I can stomach a 4th round comp pick being a bust more than a guy that cost us our 2nd and 3rd round picks. Btw, the so-called experts are wrong all the time and what does the Dallas brass know about drafting QBs? If Jerry and company knew anything about drafting and developing QBs then we would not be in the situation we were in last year. Our Dallas brass actually thought Brandon Weedon was a viable backup so I place little faith in their ability to recognize talent at the QB position. When Romo's gone we will probably have another 10 year search trying to find and develop his replacement.

I guess time will tell but I definitely don't think Lynch was worth moving up for and I am glad it didn't work out for Dallas to do so. Prescott has a good chance to play in this league I believe. You just never know.

Prescott is the best quarterback for the offense we run because his legs will be a huge Factor and allow him to be effective almost immediately

If I was running Norv Turner's offense Lynch would be my guy

Don't we run Norv's O outside of using play action; of course w/out his great ability to determine and vary the calls themselves being used as OC? Or was that the point and it was 10 feet above me? :D He would do wonders here as OC tbh (w/a healthy Romo).

You can grade this draft a big fat F is this guy convinces Harry and Lloyd to waste years on him after Romo.

We're screwed if he makes us ignore finding Romo's replacement before Tony is gone. But I think the front office will convince themselves Dak needs time and we won't look for a QB next year and possibly not the year after. Then we'll be back to post-Aikman panic/bumbling mode.

Jerry stank is what happens to a player when Jerry reaches for him. It's certain death to a player. Unless you're Travis Frederick, who is the Magic Johnson of the disease.

Lynch has the reverse here. When Jerry decided not to trade for him, Paxton Lynch became destined for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Congratulations, kid. Shave your damn chin.

That's the big risk. Those things can happen and if we're sitting there with no QB and no chance while any of these three QBs are elite, this draft was one of the worst of the Jerry era. Quite possibly the worst. The rightnow! crowd loves to talk about the risk in selecting a QB. There's an equal risk in not selecting one.

You know what would have happened last year if we had Ezekiel Elliott, a healthy Jaylon Smith and two rotational pieces in Collins and Tapper? Nothing, because we had no QB.

So if Goff becomes elite and Wentz and Lynch bust then this is the one of the worst drafts of the Jerry era? That almost sounds like veiled praise for Jerry and Co.

I liked Dak vs Lynch straight up. Comparing what we gave up for Dak vs what it would have have taken for Lynch it's a no brainer.

If the Cowboys end up QB-less, yes. It's not hard to figure out. You were at 4. 1 and 2 wanted to move out. You didn't do it. If that cost you your franchise QB you made a major mistake.

Where am I losing you? Franchise QBs don't grow on trees.

As fans, whether we like our backup QB situation or not, the Dallas Cowboys' organization will be obliged to see what they have in Dak Prescott. Things could and would likely be considerably worse if the FO had ignored the backup QB situation entirely. They didn't. Give the guy a chance.

assuming any from this draft ARE franchise QB's...I am not impressed with any of them...a couple of good ones, nothing great...I think the rams and eagles gave up WAY TOO MUCH

I didn't assume anything and your evaluation is irrelevant. Mine is irrelevant. I said if any of the three become elite and the Cowboys do end up in the post-Aikman era, this draft was a huge mistake.

I don't see how any rational fan can disagree.

I will disagree with you on the basis of "if any three of them are elite" because you just reduced our chances to get an elite QB at 1 to 33% and we would have had to given up next years 1 to have a 33% chance to do so. I don't like those odds. If there had been a no-brainer at 1 then it is worth the risk but I am pretty sure the consensus is that these guys are NOT no-brainers. They all come with risks. That is why people were trading out of 1 and 2. You don't see that happen when guys like Andrew Luck are up there!

Whether Prescott ends up being a starter in the future or not, we were able to stop a Jerry move by trading away the top of the draft for one guy that isn't a game-changer from Day 1.

Good stuff.

Since when is game-changer from day one the barometer for anything? Tony Romo wasn't a game-changer from day one. If you knew that Lynch would play at the same level as Romo has for most of his career, wouldn't you have gladly made that trade?
