I don't recall all the details of all episodes. I remember this episode and the major details of it as it was one of the better episodes. If you had asked me the ships name, I wouldn't have recalled it, but CashMan had already named the ship in his post.
Anyhow, Netflix has a lot more stuff to watch these days, but I've had Netflix for a long time just because they have all the Star Trek series. When I feel like just vegging out, Star Trek is my goto TV which I'm very thankful that there are over 700 Star Trek episodes in total. While they aren't all fresh each time I see them, it takes me a long damn time to watch them all even when I binge watch often.

The first episode of Star Trek premiered 50 years ago, and the beloved sci-fi series is now scheduled to return to television in 2017 with a new show on Netflix and CBS — or more specifically, on CBS All Access, the Network’s digital subscription video on demand and live-streaming service.
The network revealed the first teaser for the series in early 2016 along with previews of several other new, upcoming programs, and the brief peek at Star Trek has already generated quite a bit of speculation. With a new movie (Star Trek Beyond) hitting theaters this year, many fans are wondering exactly how the upcoming series will fit into the framework of the Star Trek universe as it exists now.

I heard it was going to be on Netflix in countries other than the US and Canada. If that turns out to be true, I'll be very displeased. I also have a lot of trepidation because I was extremely disappointed in both Trek movies starting in 2009. To me they seemed like Buck Rogers style adventure movies than like Star Trek. I like all the TV shows they've done with Trek, though not as much with Enterprise. But maybe the new show will be good.

I'm excited for the show. I'm pissed about having to get the channel. I just signed up for Sling TV, but not sure if I will keep it.

Looks like a Federation/Klingon hybrid ship to me. The music even sounded a bit Klingon when the back end of the ship was revealed.

Yeah, if it is taking place between the original and next generation series, it would likely deal with the eventual agreements reached with the Klingons.

I do not like that ship design goes against everything they had at the time, remember the Constitution Class was giving way to the Excelsior class with Miranda class being work horses. This ship looks like a bad kitbash of the Villain ship from Into the Darkness. Federation Designs have always had a clumsy sleekness to them that thing is like the F117 of the 23rd Century.

Yeah. And it's set 10 years before TOS. Ugh. I didn't really want another prequel. Also not being centered around the captain will be odd.

I don't care if it's a prequel. (I like Enterprise) I'm just happy as hell a new series is coming out.
As for not being centered around the captain. We will see. Not being centered around a ship made DS9 pretty bad for at least half the episodes. I hate any of the episodes from any series that aren't adventures. (The holodeck episodes are usually terrible from any of the shows. Captain Proton especially)

Agreed, I enjoyed enterprise as well. I would just love to start a story from after voyager, and even be able to have cameos from TNG, DS9 or VOY.
Yeah I hated most holodeck episodes with the exception of the ones when the hunters take over voyager and are running the holodecks throughout the ship.

Here's how I would approach a new Star Trek series in the modern binge watch market:
I'd intitially do a 13-episode run. It would have 4 two hour episodes, and 9 one hour episodes. The two hour ones would be episodes 1,5, 9, and 13, which breaks it into 3 four episode segments with a finale thrown in at the end.
There would be three (identical looking) ships with their own crew, each ship getting 4 episodes. Ship one would be episodes 1-4, and so on. The finale (episode 13) would feature some event/crisis that required all three ships. In the finale, one of the ships would get destroyed, some of it's crew being rescued and split between the other two ships during the crisis.
Then, as a producer of the show, I would carefully plan out season two, focusing on only one of the two remaining ships. The chosen ship and season two in question would be determined by audience reaction to season one. Which crew was more popular? Which stories were? One character could be "transferred" in depending, and one "transferred" in the premiere of season 2. Depending on how that went and how popular the other ship is, you could occasionally throw in an episode dealing with the other ship or have occasional interactions. After all, the ships would be identical other than their name and numbers, so the same set could be used for any ship.
What era would this be set in? That is a tough one, since several would be interesting. The purpose of Pre-Kirk era is to limit the technology. The purpose of post-Janeway is to continue the rich and diverse universe all of the shows created. Post-Kirk and Pre-Picard would be interesting because it limits technology while being able to draw from events of TOS. While I'd like to see a continuation of the universe post-Voyager, the technology is getting so far advanced at that stage that writers would have to produce way too ridiculous of scenarios to challenge the tech. I would probably set it just barely after Kirk disappeared into the Nexus.
