Could a spare RB have trade value after all?

It's obvious we're not keeping every running back that we have. Given our riches at RB, I'm sure that teams with that need will be watching our waiver wire closely. However, a team is not always able to sign the player off waivers that it wants. I'm not certain how the priority system for waivers work, but another team might sign a player that your team wants because it's ahead of you. A team could avoid that by doing a player-for-player trade. Could we therefore maybe trade whichever RB is deemed expendable for depth at the D-line or linebackers? Maybe there's a team out there that thinks McFadden is exactly what it needs given his good performance last year and is hoping that he's the RB we cut. Same thing with any of the other running backs. To make sure they get him, maybe another team deals us something of value. I'm not naive enough to think we would get a JJ Watt type of player, but maybe we could land some depth or a role player. Possible?

Morris is a lock and I think Dunbar is too when healthy. I think McFadden will get cut and I don't think he has any trade value. I also do not want them to chance putting Jackson on the practice squad because another team will claim him.

I don't see how an injured running back missing all of training camp has any value outside of Dallas. I wish it weren't the case.

If something happens to a team's starter, that team might get desperate enough (if it lacks depth) to offer a trade for McFadden, providing that McFadden can get healthy, or for Morris.

However, no team is going to offer more than a late-round pick or conditional pick.

Let's use Morris as the barometer. We signed Morris to a two-year, $3.5 million contract in late March. So any team with questionable depth could have gotten him for less than $2 million a year, which should tell you few teams valued Morris.

Interest in McFadden wasn't any higher the previous year, but he did have a good season. However, he's also an older back with an injury history, so he's just not going to bring much compensation.

McFadden could probably fetch a 5th rounder in the right situation.

I am not sure Jackson would get snatched up either if sent to practice squad.

Hopefully this is my only response as not to waste any time.

I think every team has a Jackson on their Ps. I dont see anyone picking him up but I don't see the Cowboys risking it either.

If you don't see the Cowboys risking it then it's because you do think he will get picked up.
I don't see the Cowboys risking it because they value him far more than I do. What I will do and what they will do are two different things. I'd sit him on PS.

Probably not, RBs are a dime a dozen. The best we could do is probably get a 6th or a 7th for McFadden. I doubt he has much more value then that on the market.

This has felt like an Anthony Thomas situation all along to me. We signed him to be the 2 in the 1-2 punch with julius jones going into 2005, then they drafted marion barber and when the preseason was over it was obvious barber was a player. Parcells released Thomas after he proved to be just a guy and couldn't play special teams.

I have a feeling one of the guys will just get released, dunbar or mcfadden. I don't know which one. If healthy I have to think mcfadden stays and dunbar goes. I don't think either will play special teams.
