Still wondering why not this week. Obviously not ready but which reason???

Even if he were 100% ready...and I was 100% convinced I wanted to start him down the stretch...

-Eagles pass rush might not be the best context to knock the rust off
-Cleveland could almost present as a pre-season game, perfect for soft landing

The Cowboys have an embarrassment of riches at the QB position this season.

Great problem to have. Looking forward to seeing how it all plays out.

Dak is one thing and I get the idea of riding it out with him. But romo is the man when healthy and going. He's really really good. A td throwing machine who will hit wideouts in his sleep before most qbs will even see them.

Also an INT "machine" at times. The last time I saw him play it was an abject disaster. My issue is we're treating Romo like Tom Brady or some fascinating new discovery. We've seen his act for a decade? If we play Romo, I'll root for the team of course but I think it would be a huge mistake.

What is Miles Austin doing at practice? I thought he was a free agent/retired?

INT machine? Never heard Romo described as such, but ok. Well It's well known that Romo is a very cerebral QB much in the way Brady and Manning are/were. When you've been the Franchise for as long as he has you get that benefit. I'll root for whoever is the QB but don't minimize just how good Romo is. You can't really make a mistake here. The team is in a win win position. They know what Romo brings to the table, and so do the players.

It sounds like Romo has been working hard and that's all any of us can ask for. We are blessed with Dak, but just 7 weeks ago it was doom and gloom here because of Romo. If Dak struggles they won't hesitate to go to Romo because he's saved the day on countless occasions.

Let's go Cowboys!

Ignoring all of the Dak-vs-Romo agendas, I think this is more than just about Dak playing well. The Cowboys rushed Romo back last year in an attempt to save the season and ended up losing him for the rest of the year. Given how serious of an injury Romo had in pre-season, the Cowboys are likely being very careful and patient with his recovery process and will bring him back slowly. Having the Cowboys sitting at 5-1 has made that decision even easier of course, but think about it from a strategic angle.

Ignore whether they plan to start Romo eventually or not as that does not even matter for now. Just think about it purely from a record standpoint. Let's say the target for Romo to be active (not saying start, just fully recovered and active) is the 9th game. The worst the Cowboys can be going into to that game would be 5-3 and the worst they could be out of first place is 1 game. Again, that's the two worst case scenarios. At that point, the season and first place in the NFC East would still be within the control of the Cowboys as they would still have another game against the Eagles and if they beat the Giants and Commanders in the second games as well, they would likely end up in first or tied for first at worst.

So at this point, there is no reason to rush Romo back (no pun intended). If the Cowboys beat the Eagles and/or Browns, that just adds more time the team can give Romo before he returns to active status on game days.

I am just in RELAX mode and am enjoying the season as it unfolds. We are in a great situation. We have no doubt found our future QB for years. And still get Tony for the rest of this year and next year.
We do not have to go though 30 years of trying to find a franchise QB like many teams.

We went through it in the 80's for some years, then early 2000 to 2005. Look at the Browns, the Raiders, the Dolphins since Marino retired. And the Jets for how long now. Heck they have what 4 1st round picks in the past how many years at QB and still do not have a QB. Not to mention some other teams.
Yes they had some decent QB's but not what I call franchise QB's or a QB they feel comfortable with.

Now we have 2...2 QB's that are better than a good amount of the teams starting QB's. And fans want to argue over this like 2 kids on a playground arguing over who's rocks they found have the better shapes.

RELAX, sit back and enjoy...have a cold one and smile...:)

Is it me or does Romo look very lean here? I think he has been working his core doing the rehab which is very encouraging.

Or is it just the way the video recorded? Moore looks like his head looks "yuuuuuuuge"

That was a little harsh. He's actually an excellent QB but we've all seen a 5 pic game from Romo, I can also remember a 4 pic disaster.. both prime time games. I advocate Dak starting but I'm not about to start bashing Romo.

Romo, who was not in uniform, threw passes to scouting department assistant Miles Austin while the team stretched. He then participated in some of the individual throwing, working in behind rookie Dak Prescott and backup Mark Sanchez.

Sorry if my post was harsh as that wasn't my intent

I see no way you can logically draw that conclusion. I guess Dez "it's my second year of new contract" Bryant isn't liking Dak for the same reason.

I think he was being sarcastic or facetious.

Yea this must be incorrect. I read here that the players didn't want Romo back and that the locker room would blow up in division.

I don't think anyone said that. I think what I've read is that fans/posters didn't want to disrupt the chemistry of the team since we're winning.

And I take the on-the-record comments of players with a grain of salt. No player is going to create a division publicly. There may very well be players who want Dak to continue as starter, but they aren't going to tell the media publicly.

I am sure that is true. But I vaguely remember fans here on this board saying Romo will be a distraction or something like that. But usually the fans that post nonsense like that are the usual hate on Romo/Dez crowd.

Excellent.
I was thinking the same thing. We're 5-1. Our rookie quarterback is playing great, and we're building cushion - especially if we beat Philadelphia.
There is really no need to rush Romo. And if we wrap up the division early or if we get a huge lead and if Romo is ready, we can get him some mop-up duty.
Break him in gently. We may need him down the stretch. I just don't want to tamper with the chemistry we've established with Dak. But it's good to know we have Romo in the wings.

I respectfully disagree.

The angst regarding Romo by some here is well displayed and it goes beyond his play, Dak or health seemingly. Atleast that's how I take it.

And some players have expressed praise for Dak and Romo, despite the notions and insinuations that Romo's return would be negative altogether.
