Is this season only considered a failure if the Cowboys lose the first playoff game?

Would be disappointing. Being objective , l don't see the Cowboys winning it all this year. Still a year or so away.

The future does look bright. No guarantees. Just riding it out.

Normally I would say no way can this season be considered a failure, regardless of what happens the rest of the way. BUT, if we have the #1 seed, and lose our first playoff game, at home to either the skins or giants, then hell yes its a failure. Whatever happens, they need to win against any opponent from the East that they face in the playoffs (especially if its the Commanders).

season has already been smashing success considering starting QB when down in training camp. Would break it down like this:

1st round bye - great job
2nd round playoff win - ecstatic
championship win - *** is happening...someone pinch me.
Super Bowl win - Retweet Armageddon for anyone who said anything bad bout Cowboys this year.

this year will be different. dak and zeke played in big games with zeke playing in the national title game and dak playing big games in the SEC. they are unfazed by the mental aspect of football.

I actually think so as well. I keep getting anxiety before games and yell and scream when we start out slow and they take over and win, and I realize this isn't the same group. They are both winners and clutch. We are just use to JG or Romo, God love him, throwing an Int at the inopportune time, etc etc.

Always disappointed when we don't go to the playoffs and then don't win the SB. This IS Dallas.

Anyone who calls a season like this a failure regardless of total win total is not thinking straight. It's already a success esp in light of the loss of Romo. I wouldn't believe anyone who told me they knew this would happen with Dak at QB.

Winning a SB depends on who we play. It's always match ups in this league.

Get to the conference championship game please.

After that I don't care, winning the conference championship game would be gravy, winning the super bowl would be pure ecstasy.

NFL is a sport about winning and the SB is the goal, but really it is more about
entertainment.

I think we have been entertained so far, and so have fans of other teams, not all but some.

Last year was not fun or entertaining, this year has been exciting and surprising.
So most cowboy fans have enjoyed this season, and hopefully they can get to Conf champ
game and or SB.
I have to admit it would be a bummer to lose first game, but I dont think they will.
I think they will get to SB , and if they do , they may win it.

Fans who are only satisfied with a SB win, are bandwagon fans, and are not NFL fans.
I enjoy the whole thing and even other teams.

I never thought I would see Dallas win 11 games in a row this year, so it has been surprising
and fun.

Right now my focus is more on the giants game, we need to win that, not focus on SB
and playoffs.

So true, each year for the last 20, I mainly just want my team the cowboys, in the playoffs,
it is so much better than no playoffs !
however the few times we got in we were one and done, and that is a drag.

2014 was really the only good playoff appearance, and it wasnt all that good.
I expect more from this team this year.
Seeding is important, win one more game in 2014 and we play GB here not there.

So really I guess we need to get past div round this year for it not to be a failure in some
respects.

I'll say it again, a first game exit would be a failure if we go in as the best record in the NFL. Yes, this season is a success now but with how it played out.....I am expecting more. They have proved that they can beat anyone, so go do it :flagwave:

Absolutely. Witten said it best " They don't hang banners for being 10-1".

I'd rather us go 9-7 and wreck shop in the playoffs and win the SB than to go 15-1 and go 1 and done

After that vikings defense, I'm interested in seeing how much dak learned from that. I would love to be in the film room when there breaking that down.

I am hoping the coaches wake up a bit and learn something from that game.

You can't just pound the rock into 8 man fronts over and over on first down vs high quality defenses. It created far too many 3rd and longs, which led to a terrible 3rd down conversion rate.

first game at home making it the 4th straight loss in the Divisional Round? I think that makes the season a failure since they had a number 1 seed and then lost the first game. But how can we call the season a failure if they reach the NFC Championship game for the first time in 21 years? Remember before the Cowboys won the SB 23 years ago it was steps to the Big show. Like in 1991 when the team got their first taste of the playoffs and lost in the Divisional Round and then came back the next year to go to SB

How can we expect Dak and Zeke to lead the team to a SB win as rookies? But I do expect them to win that FIRST PLAYOFF GAME. Reaching the NFC championship or losing the SB would be one hell of an accomplishment for a team with a rookie QB and RB.

I would love to see a SB win like most fans but that is just too much on a rookie QB and RB.

Agree or Disagree?

Ah, the metaphysical question. What might happen, and if it does, what do we think of it....
No, not metaphysical. Speculative. Or contemplative.
Blokes, is it metaphysical, speculative or contemplative? Or anti-anticipative?
A little help please. Anyone? Anyone?

no superbowl = failure. outside of the number one reason of money the only reason everyone plays is to win the superbowl. we don't get any money so no superbowl win is a complete failure.
That, old fellow, is akin to saying if one does not become a millionaire, one's life is a failure.
Such a metaphysical thread, blokes!
Let's talk lasses!
Ginger or Maryanne?

I suspect the team is a year away, a defensive draft/free agency. The year has already been a great success no matter how it ends.

We have a great opportunity to get to the SB, yes, we seem to have a great future with Dak and Zeke but in this league you just never know what can happen, just look at Dan Marino's rookie season and the rest of his career. We probably have the best team in the NFL this year, that probably won't happen every year.
