Bingo. Also, this is an older more fragile Romo as well. We won 2 playoff games in a DECADE with him for a reason. Dak is going to be just fine... we have had 2 back to back tough games against really solid defenses with their backs up against the wall. Also, they play calling has to get better to give those guys a better shot out there.
Nobody knows what kind of a Romo we are going to get. People want to ignore Tony's health but a good defense will just keep blitzing him until they take him out. He has to prove he can take it and that hasn't been the case in 2 years.

This is bull...Romo led the league in passer rating in 2014.

Why do the Romo crowd likes to bring up 2014? Newsflash, Romo played in 2015 and the last time he played in a game, he threw 3 int, 2 of which were returned. He was terrible. Romo isnt going to come in and play like Tom Brady. We know that, the coaches know that.

I sometimes wish the coaches would give Romo the chance to start so he can once again, choke in a big game and throw a game ending and season ending INT just so the Romo crowd can finally shut up.. even though they havent despite Romo choking for 10 years.

BTW, you think if Jimmy Garoppolo played like an elite QB for the first 4 games of the season, they would have benched Brady? I doubt it... its not about momentum, its about the best player playing.

but we know what romo is capable of doing. it isnt good enough and no amount of time is going to change that. Jason Garret knows this. If he didnt, Romo would have started the moment he was healthy.

Yeah, we do know what Romo is capable of! One of the top rated passers in NFL history. Romo did not start when healthy because we hope that Dak is the future, but it becomes a difficult decision to move away from Dak at this point because not only does he lose confidence but the team loses confidence in him too. So the question becomes do you basically give up any chance at going to the Super Bowl (with the way Dak is currently playing) for the possible future of Dak with this team. If you go away from Dak right now, the future is not that clear.

Figures Cowboys fans would turn on their rookie QB the second he actually looked like a rookie. They turn on everyone at the first sign of hardship. Brady's 2001 Super Bowl run was littered with trash games like his 86 yard turd against the Dolphins and a 4 pick game against the Broncos. Hell, Aikman threw 36 picks over his first 2 seasons, how many of you pansies would have stuck with anyone through that?

Yes, let's bench a rookie starter after 1 bad road game, that can't have any negative consequences you absolute nimrods.

Most disloyal fanbase in football IMO.

Romo hasnt been able to get past the divisional round in 10 years. Are we so sure Romo is somehow going to become a combination of Joe Montana and Tom Brady and finally do what he hasnt been able to do in 10 years despite him being older and more injury prone? This is the reason why I would stick with Dak.

Well I know for a fact that what we have seen from Dak the last 2 weeks will definitely not get us there. Romo is better than that on his terrible days and he does not have many contrary to the rhetoric we see. I will take his game against Green Bay in the playoffs in 2014 any time and if our TEAM performs, we will win.

Time to rally around our young QB, not tuck your tails and run. Same way you guys rallied around Romo after every pick and every mediocre season.
I think they rallied pretty good around him last night even though he couldn't get one first down. Usually Romo would throw that sporatic pick at the far end of the stadium. Dak needs to actually get off his own 20 to start.

I'm all for Dak starting next week. If he struggles and we lose, than Romo needs to start vs Detroit. This isn't about " Loyalty" or anything else. We need to clinch the division. Detroit and Giants meet next week. Pending a loss, it means our game vs Detroit is for HFA if they win, and it means the Giants are that much closer to winning the division.

Romo was rushed back on a team in total disarray, not even completely healed, with Dez on a high ankle sprain and a musical chair of RBs that didn't get a full season to play and game planning was total disarray.. the game decision was made that week.. Romo has been practicing for weeks and isn't even being rushed back..

he also won the first two games when Martin had the neck injury and Leary was still hurt..

I start Dak next week, he has earned that, but pull him if he continues to play like he has the last few weeks.

Agree. You play Dak against Tampa. If the offense is once again stagnant you see what Romo has and give Dak a week off.

This isn't about one player or the future its about who gives us the best chance to win now.

I'd play Romo. But give him the whole week. No halftime benching.

Dak has been amazing but the reality is that he needs to learn still.

I want to win it all and there is no way we stand a chance with that kind of play

True, and if it were up to Red and Red alone, I think he'd stick with Dak. But it isn't up to him. JJ and his son are impatient and there will be a plan to switch to Tony if/when Dak continues to be ineffective. Halftime of the next game? Maybe, or maybe it will be the 2nd qtr. of the Lions game but it's probably inevitable. The league has caught up to what we're doing with Dak and this O and IF he can't get us into the kind of formations and play calls to counter act that, then like I said: it's inevitable.

Hey, I agree completely. I was the lone voice in the wilderness saying the same thing in the game thread last night. BUT...as I just posted, this isn't about protecting Dak's future or his feelings. If it was, and Sanchez was the only backup then it wouldn't be a discussion. We have Tony on the bench and he's more than capable. Most of the right thinking people on here knew it could come to this. Dak has hit a wall....rookie or not and a decision to make the switch and jump start the O is coming whether we like it or not. Tampa and the Lions both have good defenses but the games are at home so.....we shall see. Never a dull moment.

It's a legitimate question. Do you start Romo next week?

I wouldn't, and I love Romo.

There were lumps, even with Tony Romo. Sometimes, and with all 'rooks,' one has to recover and learn a little.

Having a good cut man in the corner helps as well...:)

I really don't understand how some think we are going to get the old Romo from 2014. A Top notch defense will keep after him until they knock him out. He hasn't played in over a year.

Any QB can get injured and knocked out. No excuse to keep better players on the bench.
