CAN ZEKE STILL BREAK DICKERSON’S NFL ROOKIE RUSHING RECORD?

Cowboys rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott still leads the NFL in rushing yards (1,392) and rushing attempts (287). He’s averaging 107.08 rushing yards per game and 4.9 yards per carry. But what does he need over the final three games of the regular season to break Eric Dickerson’s NFL rookie rushing record?

Dickerson ran for 1,808 yards during his rookie year with the L.A. Rams in 1983 on 390 carries which is an average of 4.6 yards per carry.

Zeke trails Dickerson’s total by 416 yards with 3 games to play. Zeke would have to average 139 rushing yards in the next three games to top Dickerson. It’s not impossible, but it’s a tough task. That’s 32 yards per game more than his current average.

If Zeke continues to average near 4.9 yards per carry, he would need about 7 more carries in each of the next three weeks to top Dickerson.

In 1983, Dickerson already had 1,531 rushing yards through his first 13 games. Another terrific running back that had a fantastic rookie season in 1981, George Rogers of the Saints, ran for 1,399 rushing yards through the first 13 games of his debut season. Rogers finished the season with 1,674 rushing yards which is second all-time among NFL rookies.

Probably not but I'd love to see it. Loved Dickerson the player but never wowed me personally otherwise.

here's hoping he breaks a 60 or 90 yarder against the bucs.

Worst part is that if he has a big game this week or next then we probably win and the last game he won't end up playing much.

Here is to Zeke getting 150 yards+ against the Bucs!

What would be Internet breakingly funny is if Dallas finished with the Rams and that sorry middle school/high school team allowed him to rush for three bills and break the record. Dickerson might spontaneously combust.

Don't care just hope Dallas Wins out.

He could.

But it's unlikely.

That's a lot of yards over the next 3 games.

That would be nice, but all I care is if he, Prescott, & Co. can get us to the Super Bowl. Individual records run a distant second to getting this team to a championship win for the first time in over TWO decades.

I hope does it but I know it will be tough. I think he has a better chance at tying/breaking Dickerson's rookie rushing touchdown record. He ran for 18 in 1983.
