I'm usually against this but I think Romo plays in the postseason

Aside from an injury, I see only one possibility of Romo coming in........down by quite a bit after halftime. Let's say we are down by 17 or so and our opponent adds on to the lead after another bad series. They might go to Tony in the 3rd if we are down 20+ and Dak is struggling.

With that said, I don't see us being whooped because of Dak unless some defense totally surprises him with new looks and confusion.

It is ride or die with Dak unless he has a total meltdown. Romo looked real good and I think he is the better QB but this is Dak's team now.

If Romo was around 32 years of age, this might be a completely different situation and he should have been given the reins back. Yet, he is almost done and we have to go with what got us here.

If we get down by three TD's, I will be leading the charge to make the switch.

Sweet. I'm sure if we wind up losing that game by three points, it'll be Romo's fault. LOL. Can you imagine, down by 21 points, only to see Romo nearly bring the team all the way back? Thank God we had you to lead that charge!

I would not be shocked if Dallas sprinkles Romo into these playoff games some and I don't think it would hurt the offense or Daks rhythm if we did.

I don't know how they will go about doing this but I just have a feeling they will.
Did you really think about this or is that just raw emotion talking

RED better be ready to pull the plug quickly if we need Romo to rally a WIN in the playoffs or Super Bowl. Play to WIN, not be complacent with starting roles.

Unfortunately there are some posters here (not going to name names) that would rather lose the NFCCG with Dak than win it with Romo.

The Romo hate is that strong.

That's sad we have to do whatever it takes to win this year. I don't care who is steering the ship lets just get #6

Absent injury to Dak, I'd be willing to bet the house that Tony doesn't play again as a Cowboy, sad as it is.

I'll go on record as saying nothing would surprise me as well. I think if we find ourselves stuck in another 10-7 type game against the Giants late, you might see Romo inserted to see if he could get something going against that defense.

I'm mostly against it, but the crazy thing is, I think it might just work for us if we had to do it. The defense wouldn't be preparing for Romo at all, and he's such a different style QB from Dak that the entire game plan would be thrown out the window.

It's Dak's team, but I think all chips will be on the table when it's win-or-go-home time.

Agreed.

It would be ridiculous to keep Romo on the bench if Dak is mired in a bad game or even if we are behind and need a spark. Not in the postseason. I don't anticipate this happening but it certainly could and should if the situation calls for it.

I understand where you're coming from but if a team is to be built around Dak i'm ok with leaving him in and learn from the experience. Most teams don't win the whole thing the first time in the playoffs, (see our own history). There are plenty of one hit wonders like New Orleans etc that fall way off the next year.

As much as I want to see Romo get the Boys another ring I want to see this a dynasty built around the new guys.

I don't think it's impossible to explain. It's legitimately a really tough call. But it's one where you'd be probably kicking yourself forever for not pulling the trigger if we play Dak and he loses a third time.

Now, if we were to change things up and start Romo suddenly in a playoff game, and lose, that's one you don't come back from.

Yeah, if Romo starts a non-injury game and we lose, it would be a big mess. After all of the double-talk, misdirection, etc., it's too late for them to say he played because he is our best quarterback, even if he is, because they have to admit they weren't playing our best player all along.

(I think it's fair to say there has been no competition for the QB job, because if there was, Tony would win it. Jerry has said that Dak doesn't do too well in practice at times, but he does do well in the games. He has also said Tony does so good in practice he doesn't need to play in games to be ready. I'm just not picturing Linehan calling a play in a game he knows Dak can't execute in practice.)

Anyway, if they would have followed the original plan -- to play Tony when he was ready -- we would be in a much better position. There is no reason I can think of he wouldn't have won the games Dak has won. We would probably be in the same place we are now, in the playoffs, first round bye, HFA. But, we would have our best quarterback starting and our rookie with some wins under his belt as our backup. All IMO, of course.

Oh, I should say Dak has done a wonderful job for us, and my opinion that Tony is a better quarterback than he is right now in no way means I won't be in Dak's corner for the next month or so, just like Tony will be.

Until I remember that the Giants also beat a Romo led team in the playoffs... with very similar team composition

But then you remember that Tony has a four or five game win streak against a Giants team with an almost identical composition as this one

Best scenario is that Romo never sees the field unless we have a 4 td lead in the 4th quarter only to give Dak a rest and keep him healthy

Courteous post. But I don't agree. Used to be you could count on your roster for years but not anymore. Too easy to win one year and be out the next. A critical injury here and there or just bad luck.

You grab the ring, pun intended, when you can. As someone said it's all hands on deck and damn the torpedoes. Full speed ahead. Time to attack with all your arsenal. Not leaving unspent ammo on the deck unless its not needed.

Besides I'm running out of years. Get out there and beat their arse.

Just gotta win imo Romo moves the ball alot easier then dak does...but dak has done well and hasn't done anything but win...sooooo just let dak play and then start from scratch again next season with the QB position and let Two really good QBS battle it out in camp assuming Romo can stay healthy
