I'm willing to stick with Garrett if

First off if you cannot debate without personally attacking a complete stranger then that speaks more towards your lack of brain activity. Second. As I said. This has not been a good defense under him and I acknowledge that he hasn't had the talent on this unit. But why is it so crazy to suggest a defensive draft and a new coordinator with a fresh approach?

I'm staying out of that first part of the post.

Nothing wrong with discussing anything based upon the results we have received the past 3 seasons. Ultimately I would have to ask if it's fair to take a mans job without giving him the proper resources to do that job? We can nitpick certain playcalls and certain situations all day, but more often than not Rods defenses have played very good situational football.

Garrett has 1 playoff win in 6 and a half years as HC, while having great QB play most of the time, good to great RB and WR play and an average to bad defense.

That means Garrett is not doing his job, not saying he should be fired, it's just that this is about results and Frankly he hasn't delivered.

I like Marinelli but he just doesn't have an answer for Rodgers.

Everyone is criticizing the pass rush yesterday but I think a lot of the lack of a rush was by design and we were more worried about not letting Rodgers leave the pocket.

From now on I don't ever want to see our defense play scared like that. Play tight coverage and go after that guy and let the chips fall where they may.

That has been a HUGE problem with Marinelli. He tends to play scared and let teams march up and down the field hoping to keep them out of the end zone. We saw the same exact thing vs the Commanders on Thanksgiving and in other games.

It seemed like when the defense really needed a stop they got very aggressive and it worked, than he went right back to the 8 yard cushions and they paid for it.

What does it matter what you want? He's here to stay.

And he should be.

IMO if the DC can add defensive talent via free agency and the draft coach Rod Marinelli will have a top 5 defense in 2017. Once coach Marinelli moves on/retires I am hopeful coach Matt Eberflus is promoted the defensive coordinator. Coach Eberflus knows the Rob Ryan 3-4 defense and Rod Marinelli 4-3 Defense, I honestly believe Coach Eberflus will implement a hybrid defense based off Ryan/Marinelli concepts.

Not me. He was dead to me when I saw how he used Zeke this year and then his approach to the end of the season.

Find a man to coach the team.

Couldn't agree more.

There's a lot that I respect about Garrett, but I have no confidence in his coaching ability (primarily game management). He's not a person that can dynamically process information, game situations, et cetera; he clams up.

I really believe he'd be a great college coach where the rigidity of his coaching approach suits young men that need direction and is attractive to recruits and their families.

I agree with that. I don't even know if he'd go with a losing season next year. Would have to be a real train wreck.

Coach Rod Marinelli is fired. I respect his credentials and his knowledge but I feel that maybe he's better as just a position coach. The cover two schem we run is outdated and too vanilla. I understand that he hasn't had a surplus of talent on the defense but it will be nice to have a defensive heavy draft and get some fresh eyes on this group.

Hey, it's been fun watching a scrappy group of "try hard" guys hustle the past few seasons but we constantly play scared and it caught up with us. We're stuck with Garret at least for another season but I really hope they get a new defensive coaching staff next year.

How does Marinelli keep his job when Rob Ryan was fired?

This excuse is tired. You can scheme to make up for lack of talent.

Really? Then what are all of those threads and posts about signing free agents and a defense-heavy draft about? Just pick up a few guys off the street and spend the draft focusing on offense. What's the worst that could happen?

Marinelli is the least of out problems with the staff. The guy made chicken salad out of chicken crap all year.

We have already wasted the career of one franchise QB on Garrett and are now on our way to doing it again. To top it off he proved in 2015 he can't even be a .500 coach without a franchise QB. The guy offers nothing and COTY was a joke.
