Romo is the better QB because of his experience and ability to read and abuse defenses. Dak will get there because he seems to take preparation seriously and seeks to improve himself. He has a bright future as long as he works hard to improve his game.

Unfortunately he is going to be hampered by the same things Romo was and that's a poor defense and below average coaching staff.

Just to put things in perspective.. Dallas ran play-action for Dak close to double what they did with Romo in 2014, their usage that year being the highest in years in the Garrett tenure..

So Dallas passing game was heavily built off the threat of he run this year and Linehan in his first year of total control of the offense with a QB that he had the whole off-season to work with while Romo was recovering, was pretty good..

I think we definitely would have taken much more advantage of the deep ball if Romo played this year..

Yes and in the end the coaching staff blew it by going away from the run when they needed to rely on it the most. It happens with regularity and will continue to happen.

They can't help themselves.

If the Texans had a healthy Romo, they would be playing this weekend with a chance to win. That organization knows it.

I agree but that still doesnt make Romos value worth a 27 year old Watt. Maybe Im wrong, but if the organization "knows it" we should see a deal!

if they are serious about winning, the trade would make them an instant superbowl contender...if they keep watt, they dont become a contender at all.

Team > player

Hey I hope it happens, Ive joked with my brother in law about making this deal for 2 years. Id be highly suprised if the Texans buy into that logic and trade the 27 year old face of thier franchise and best defensive player in the league for a two year bandaid.

to be fair here: http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/j...ry-of-his-career-has-contemplated-retirement/

IR 2016, and look at his 2015 injury list:

One broken hand.

One staph infection.

Two torn abs.

Three torn adductor muscles.

One herniated disc.

I'm not sure I would do this

Texans would have to add either Hopkins or Mercilus

I'd probably do Romo and Morris for Watt Hopkins and Mercilus..

Romo for Watt is unrealistic enough, yet you think they'll throw in their best receiver and one of their best defensive players on top of Watt? I hope this is sarcasm.

Oh wait, they get Morris? Nevermind, this is a steal for them.

One meaningless game, that they decided to sit Zeke, but played Dak, who didn't do anything in the meaningless game?

Whose criticizing Dak?

I'm comparing him to Romo, who shredded the Eagles defense, and if you paid attention, that very team started to defend Romo differently than Dak, when they both didn't have Zeke.. the Eagles brought the pressure from the get-go against Dak, but couldn't afford to against Romo's arm...

Why are you putting so much stock into such a meaningless game
Is your argument here that Romo should start because he played better than Dak did even though none of them really played much that game?

Throw in coakley and a 3rd. I can't see Houston not taking that deal. :muttley:

And yes someone will make the argument that their Defense was OK without Watt. That would still not be a fair straight up trade... It would require the Cowboys giving up Romo a first rounder and probably more.

I would argue that it would totally be a fair straight up trade, possibly with conditional terms involved since both could possibly never play another down. Even old and oft injured a top 10 QB > any defensive player ever in today's game.

Yep the value isn't just in the player it's in the position.

If you don't like this offer...I'd be willing to swap out Morris for DMC and I'll even through in Butler..but I need Watt, Clowney, Mercilus, Hopkins, and Miller
