I'm only watching Dallas for the most part this year as well. And highlight shows. It's because of Goddell and a few other personal things. Nothing to do with the anthem lol

I watch sports and entertainment to get away from all the crap in the news, etc.

And to be blunt things are so much better in so many ways then they were 30 years ago as regards racism, etc that those crying about it now have absolutely no concept.

Politics has been in sports since Roman times.

People in the 1960 used to say very similar things about how things were better than they were in the 19th century. And things being better does not mean that things are okay.

... or pay respect to those that gave their lives for the freedoms we have today.
... or you can just take those things for granted and go get some popcorn.
yea because the anthem is the ONLY time you can pay respects to people who gave their lives for the freedoms, and I choose to use my freedom to get alcohol and wings during the boring *** anthem

For some people it might be the whole protest thing but I would say for the majority it is not. The trend to cut the cord continues and is not a fad. All other major sports have realized this but the Roger Goodell lead NFL is late to the party as usual.

I find its easy for people to say, "there are far worse things than being told to use a certain bathroom" when they don't have to experience the situation personally and the emotions that come with being potentially shunned or disrespected like that.

I find the "life is hard for everyone" to be such a lame excuse nowadays. Life is hard for everyone but it's harder for some people. Denying that is just ignorance IMO.

I've experienced plenty in my life...racism included. My personal experiences are just that...personal.

In any case this conversation is over. People are incapable of speaking about this topic without bringing insults into the equation which is why this issue will never be resolved.

Helluva leap to conclude the ratings drop has to do with protests of police brutality but ok. I wonder if the protests are being used by fans as an excuse for their team declining interest from their team sucking, for the Patriot dynasty the NFL is under or for their declining interest in a worsening product. You don't really see the protests during the game. Stop watching the commentary about the game and enjoy the football.

I don't want to know period. If the NFL was smart they would stop giving these guys a platform by showing them do it! Let them sit or kneel but don't advertise it!

The NFL didn't foresee anything like this coming and now they can't really do anything about it.

The NBA somehow knew way ahead of time and forces players to stand before this could ever become an issue in their league.

So I just don't care. Only the NFL can control it and they won't do anything because they will get roasted by the media and the media is going to agree with people who kneel.

So i'm just to the point that if the NFL owners allow their players to do it then go ahead and do it. I just wish the broadcast didn't cut in and update me on the players that didn't stand.

People are also boycotting because of Kaepernick not being signed. I don't know how much those numbers impact but there are thousands if not millions doing so. But people are tuning this league off for various of reasons and they refuse to get a hold of it.

There are two different schools of thought regarding our national anthem as far as I am concerned.

Not standing for our corrupted government and politicians is something I can get on board with. Im tired of grandstanding and broken promises by self serving elected officials.

Standing up to honor the brave men and women that made this country great is also something I am completely on board with. There are better people than us that made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Whether or not we always agree with the politics that put them in that position doesnt matter imo. So out of respect to them I stand and I honor them when ever I have the oppurtunity. For me its not about racism or social justice its simply about respect.

And yes I get it, Im sick of politics and every idiot with a platform cramming thier opinions down my throat so I can understand why others might prefer the NFL shut up and play ball, after all thats what we are paying for.

FYI, there is a boycott of the NFL going on. I didn't watch the game last night either. The only game I will watch are Cowboy games and I am watching it in a manner that won't be counted in their ratings.

There is a boycott going on. You can't deny it. I just think it's a distant 2nd to people just not wanting to pay these ridiculous cable prices anymore.

I actually believe the rating are dropping because people are protesting the social injustices and the fact Kaep isn't on a team.

It's several things. That is just 1 of the reasons. There is people not watching because of guys like Kaepernick too.

People cutting the cord is the main thing though.

They exist and will always exist.

Making them into the boogeyman and using them as an excuse for one's failings in life is something I won't accept. Pull your bootstraps up and get on with it. Humanity has gone through much worse than being told you can't use a certain bathroom or because some statue that's been standing for 100 years offends you. Life is hard for everyone.

Jim Brown said it best when asked about race. I suggest you listen to the interview.

Nice strawman.

Life is not equally hard for everyone. That is the issue. No one is saying be lazy although your narrative speaks to a disgusting stereotype pointed at minorities. It's not because of race it is because of work ethic!

Jim Brown is not someone whose opinion I care about.

It's not the only time but it's the allotted time for such action to be done as a community of an appreciative citizenry. Be thankful no one is forcing you to stand up and be counted in that group, but we are watching and taking notes.;)

That too. Plus, the NFL is perverting the hell out of football. I hate the coverage, I hate the shows, GMFB can go **** themselves, and I hate conspiracies against my favorite team.

Yes, because the only way one can show appreciation and respect for those who have put their lives on the line is to stand for the national anthem............ and if you don't, that means you could care less about those people.

LOL.

And how do we apply the rules of anthem standing? So if I am at home and watching on TV and the anthem comes on, am I supposed to stand up in my living room? Or does it only apply when you are physically present in front of a flag? What about radio?

So last night, when the anthem came on, was I disrespectful because I left my family room to go make sure my 5 year old brushed her teeth before she went to bed?

I need you diehard patriots to list for me the rules as it pertains to sporting events and when I should and shouldn't stand for the anthem.

The only thing I'm thinking about when I'm caught up in a live anthem rendition is I hope the speed through this bull**** so I can put my cap back on and get to watching the game
