Would you take Zeke at 4?

I probably wouldn't now, but only because I see a guy that is changing physically in a bad way and may not have a very long career.

He's getting chubby now. What about three years from now?

And I was a huge proponent of drafting him.

Yup. Then factor in the ongoing risk for a suspension of some type... Too much risk for a top five pick.

And I'm also in the camp that a top RB is not as valuable as a top pass rusher.

All that matters is his value for our team. He proved his value last year. And we will see what his value is going forward.

You cant throw him out with the bathwater yet, no doubt...but next year, he gets in trouble 2-3x, comes in weighing 30 more lbs and actually starts looking like the guy that made fun of him, you gotta start saying..well...maybe this ain't our guy...seriously...there absolutely has to be a limit of how much you can put up with. Especially at RB where, well there is a lot of talent from year to year at decent draft slots.

I wanted to take Buckner in that spot, who looks like he's turning into a game wrecker for San Francisco.

I also wanted McDowell over Taco at 28 this year, who supposedly may never play a down in the NFL after a freak accident over the summer.

I just want some legit talent on this defensive line.

Well if those three OL had off the field issues and some maturity issues, it might be a fair comparison.
Let's not forget longevity issues at their positions and how easy it is to replace RBs. Other than that, completely the same.

Well we are gonna take a backup rb in next draft.

Knowing everything now, yes definitely. Knowing that Romo would go down and Dak would start, Zeke was the better pick than Ramsey or anyone else that was available at that time.

Crazy how much can change in a 48 hours around here...
I haven't changed from day 1.

Wouldn't have taken Zeke last year and week 2 didn't do anything to change my mind. Would still prefer to have Jalen Ramsey on this team.

He has not had 1/1000th of the problems that Dez has had.
Dez had one of the best starts in NFL history for a WR. That was sustained over a half decade.

Zeke hasn't had nearly that level of sustained excellence. Dez also wasn't the 4th overall pick in his draft class.

But this thread wasn't about Dez. What in the world is wrong with you?

Howard was a 5th round choice.

So.............. you can have Zeke, Collins and Brown and I could have had Ramsey, Collins, Howard and Brown.

And then that frees up this draft to possibly not have to use 3 picks on CBs. Maybe I can go an edge rusher in the 2nd round.

So when you roll in a potential 6 game suspension coming, the fact he's got some clear maturity issues, when asked if I could redo the draft, yeah, I might go a different route if you could guarantee me a guy like Howard later in the draft.
Yeah, I might go a different route if you could guarantee me every steal from every round???? ***???? Seriously???? Pretty much did that already looking back at last years draft. Unreal. Maybe with you drafting we take Howard in the late 4th because we went cb with #4 so then we miss out on Dak......It's so ******* stupid to sit here and second guess what might go down as the best draft class of all-time. Unreal!!!!!

When you can get guys like Ajayi in the 5th, or 'reach' for David Johnson in the 3rd, or Kareem Hunt in the 3rd this year, why would you reach for a guy in the top 5?

But, yeah, he's a hell of a player. He's a lot better in pass pro at this level than I ever dreamed he'd be, too. And he doesn't fumble. Those are the two things I want most at that position, anyway.
Given the consistent success that we see from late drafted runners and the strength of our team which was the offensive line....I will go to my grave wondering why in the world we took a RB at 4 when we could have had a high level defender. And to top it all off we took a RB with known off field concerns at the time to boot.

It still annoys me and at the time I said Zeke needs to be a 2 contract 10 year player for him to have made the gamble we took worth it. And well...he got off to a marvelous start last year. Unfortunately, the dark timeline where Zeke doesn't reach his potential....something that seemed so far away 14 months ago....now is staring all of Cowboy Nation square in the face.
