Yeah actually it is.
Boxing has been doing this for years. If you are a boxing judge or referee and you want to work...you do what the promoter recommends you do. Simple. Don't blame the judge...look at the power...the promoter. Its a completely unregulated business..this "game" is about one thing and it sure as hell ain't pugilism.

Yeah I was reading a reddit thread yesterday and found out about promoters being given gifts by promoters. So wrong and shady. I had no idea.

Irrespective of the robbery, his was a phenomal fight and worth watching, irrespective of the nonsensical judging by the refs.

Most of Canelo's power punches were the first three rounds. He got very defensive as time went on and he even started avoided staying in the ropes for longer periods of time, moving a lot more and trying to engage as much.

I was loving how they kept shaking their heads at each other after some good kicks to tell their opponent they were t doing any damage.

Canelo fought a lot like Mayweather in this match. Stick and move repeat. GGG threw and landed more but Canelo landed cleaner harder shots. A draw was fair.

Canelo fought in spurts because he had no answer for GGG's constant pressure and jab. GGG landed a ton of hooks with his left as well and they had power on them, that is why Canelo was fading after the fourth round. I give Canelo credit for having a big heart the last 3 rounds (only won 2 of them though) but he lost that fight.

Irrespective of the robbery (people clouding their vision based on the first three rounds as representative of the whole match that Canelo landed more power punches), this was a phenomal fight and worth watching, irrespective of the nonsensical judging by the refs.

And that is what boxing is counting on, that people enjoyed the fight enough to look past the corruption so they can make big numbers on fight 2.

Your observation seems spot on to me and when you were responding to my post, I was actually editing it saying something similar regarding the first three rounds onward.

You could tell in Canelo's body movements that he was not trying to engage as much, particular against the ropes as opposed to the first three rounds. He was moving a lot more trying to avoid protracted bouts with GGG.

Decisions like this is why MMA > boxing. I enjoyed the fight but the ineptitude of one judge has ruined this event. GGG won, period!

I actually liked the fight and was a nice clean fight between two solid fighters. I think GGG lost some power but held his own. Both of their chins are crazy, GGG just took some solid punches and just kept coming.

The ridiculous score just tainted it for me. But I've been there with boxing before.

couldn't agree more.
it'd be like watching NFL games where the team that was down in the 4th quarter had an extra down each series.
OR if you could open is up via an app that had people send money and the guy who got the most wins.

boxing for a long time has been about money. and the beauty of the sport is two, young, hungry guys swinging at each other in a contest of wills.
