so what's the reasoning for that? no trust in the young DBs?

Anthony Brown was playing a standard 7 yards off the receiver which is fine in off coverage. Lewis was about 8-1/2 yards off and then backing up to about 10 yards off. That's likely more of a Lewis problem in not lining up correctly. You can fault the idea of playing 7 yards off, but I doubt they were playing for 10 yards off the LoS given Brown was lined up 7 yards off.

This is the type of D you play against the great QBs bc they will beat you deep. When you play average QBs you make them earn every yard. Let's lose going all out and making Siemian be accurate on the deep ball

Exactly vs a Ryan/Rogers go ahead and give Julio, Jordy and co 7 yards. But with Siemian throwing the ball make him play with smaller windows, I bet it will make him look at his 2nd or 3rd options and might give our dline some more time. But even if he throws it into tight window you better believe it will have to be accurate or a speculator catch. I never understood why our defense plays so far back. But unfortunately I don't see us changing that style.

forgot about The Broncos for a second and think if we will see changes in the upcoming games, the answer is a BIG NO because its what the OLD man wants to do.He wants to rush 4 and make sure the play is in front of the secondary.I was hoping the playoff lose against the packers would have changed his mind but we see the same old crap scheme even after drafting Defense the entire draft. Its time to admit the game has passed the old man.

That defense mirrored what we complained about with the Poodle and Zim before him folks. No difference in all 3 schemes really.

Although I do wish Zim was our HC now.....

You call that type of defense when you are leading not when you are behind. Totally idiotic giving up 5-10 yard passes to avoid the big play when you need the ball back. Lets just let them dink and dunk and hold the ball for 8+ minutes while we are down by 18.

I agree with DezNuts

Scandrick out. Awuzie and Carroll out in the first two series.

That left TWO corners to play the rest of the game in high altitude, including a rookie that hasn't played a snap yet as a Cowboy even in preseason.

Marinelli was in a tough spot.
You have a point. What up with Cheeto man?

We saw G.Bay A.Rogers build a big halftime lead in the playoffs playing off.........then 2nd half Rod M. decided to "go for broke", got up in press coverage, bumping the release off the line etc..........and really slowed Rogers down. Heath got a pik, should've had a 2nd..........

are Bronco' receivers that much more dangerous than G.Bay........is Seimian = Rogers.........

Doesnt Rod M. Trust his all of a sudden very young secondary.......possibly

I'm wondering where all the Marinelli fan boys are...add the JG guys too.
Marinelli neophyte reporting sir.
I'll guess that Marinelli's mantra is not to let the long ball happen and wait for the offense to make mistakes.
How much experience has Lewis had in training camp and actual games?
Is it optimal well no
we got beat by a better team, players and coaching

My main problem with isn't that we were playing off but when and who we were using this scheme against.
Our DBs are young but so is Simien. It's not like he's a season pro who's been to multiple pro bowls. We were losing badly and we needed to get the ball back quick. So why are we playing the style of defense that makes it easy for the offense to dink and dunk and milk the clock? Especially against a QB that is known to throw an int on longer passes. Our coaching staff has no game awareness.

The Broncos WR's are better than GB's. Not impressed at all with GB's WR's outside of Nelson...when he's healthy.
