Daks demise is being greatly exaggerated...

So is the thought that the cowboys are no longer a contender

Watching the Giants game

Cowboys should've scored 30+

I was a big fan of Romo's. He had a bit of a gunslinger attitude to him and I think he liked it when folks crowded the line of scrimmage and he could check down to another play and stick it to the defense. I think his throwing mechanics were awesome and his accuracy (most of the time) was amazing.

Dak is young, and will work on his mechanics, learn to read defenses like Romo did and gain the confidence required to stick a throw in a very tight window. What he has better then Romo probably ever did is the ability to protect the ball, by not taking risks. He also has a body type that allows him to absorb some hits that probably would have put Romo out of game because of Romo's fragility. I'm not sure Dak will ever have the passing stats of Romo and the ability to provide those 4th quarter comebacks Romo was capable of. However he might win us a pile of games because of those other abilities he has that Romo didn't have.

PS. In some ways Dak reminds me of Alex Smith. Alex has been known as a dink and dunk quarterback who won't stick those tight throws and won't go deep. He is also known a non risk taker. Alex has won a lot of games over the years, but normally doesn't make those "wow" plays elite QB's make. That said, look what has happened this year with Alex. He's got some real speed on the outside and a really good running back and a really good tight end. Surrounding him with that kind of talent has made him better and a more confident looking QB.

It's hard for people to realize that if you have the eighth best quarterback in the NFL then you might as well have the 28th best quarterback in the NFL. So no, we don't miss Tony Romo, at all.

The Commanders are smart. (I can't believe I just said that.) They're not going to make the same mistake with Cousins that we made.

Trust me the Skins will make that mistake. Danny Snyder is running that team. There isn't much they have gotten right since he bought it, although Danny boy has made a ton of money.

If you want to pretend that a 35+ year old QB with not one but a notable series of recent BACK (not ankle, not finger, etc) injuries can be relied on to stay healthy in even the short term let alone the medium/long term, then go right ahead.

Thank goodness you're not in our front office though. At least they were wise enough to close the era at the right time when they lucked into the opportunity (Dak playing well). And this is coming from an enormous Tony Romo fan.

I worried about his disc...and only his disc. The bones did not worry me, and certainly not the cyst. These are not related things.

Unfortunately, our FO made a mistake trying to move on too soon. And that's not to say Dak won't work out.

Tony Romo never had the total team around him like Roger and Troy did.

But when it comes to playing the position, he's the best we've ever had.

Fox broadcaster and former Cowboy quarterback Troy Aikman suggested at one point that Dallas could be missing their old quarterback, Tony Romo, who was notorious for his big-play ability.

While it’s just the second game of the season, Prescott’s play continued a trend from last season–smart, yet conservative quarterback play. Cowboys’ head coach Jason Garrett also seemed to agree with Aikman’s notion.

“When they play that style of defense, you have to be able to consistently attack with the passing game,” Garrett said, via the Dallas Morning News. “At different times today, I thought we were able to do that, and at other times we weren’t. We didn’t make the plays, for whatever reason. We really needed to have [consistent] success throwing the ball. We were not able to do that.”

Blimey! Why should I miss rarely winning a playoff game? 5-pick Sundays? Bobbles and 10 years of excuses?
Dak will take us farther in 3 years than Romo in 10.

Anyone wonder why they still have Romo's salary available on the cap? I personally think Romo is in a better place now. Far removed from another catastrophic injury.
...And far removed from another sudden ending to our season.

3 rec 48 yards
3 rec 38 yards

Those be Dez numbers the last two games with Romo when both were at the top of their games.

2014 playoffs

But the catch that should've been! Desperation

And we had to take that desperate shot because the great Tony Romo foolishly held the ball too long and ate an avoidable sack on second down. How about that dropped snap at the end of the first half? Wiped away what could've been a 21-7 lead at the half! Then overrated Bailey missed the FG: 14-10 at half. Tony, as usual, started the downfall

Romo avoided him in the normal flow of the offense..

Why?

Its not worth it.

For the Dez misses Romo folk

That's a 688 yard season pace w the immortal one throwing Dez the ball

Trustspitta knocking down Romoites falsehoods one by one!

You got issues dude

Wow, just reading some of the responses enlightens me as to why a lot of people hate Dallas fans. I swear we have some of the most ignorant fans in the entire world. Just the complete lack of football knowledge of some people is astounding. I hope some of you are just trolls but man...

Coming from a huge Romo fan, that era is over and it is time to turn the page. We are rolling with Dak for better or worse and that will not be sufficiently answered for another season or two.

But Dak could have been our future 2 years from now. Romo had 2 years left im him ( obviously barring injury ) This is like beating a dead horse but You will never convince me that the guy on the sidelines or now in the booth didnt give our team the best chance to win. But like you said. Its over. I moved on. Im not sold yet on the whole Dak savior thing. I love his attitude his character and heart and passion. He is great guy who works hard. But time will tell. Dak has a ways to go. Im along for the ride. Lets see what happens. Zeke is going to miss 6 games one season or the next. Thats a huge test for Dak when it finally happens.

I have already stated elsewhere that Romo should have gotten the starter job back when healthy. Dallas disagreed:(
