Why is the NFL committing suicide?

Ego.

They don't believe that the game's popularity will one day fall like it did baseball and boxing.

Boxing used to the most popular sport in the country. Boxers used to fight constantly. In Sugar Ray Robinson's final year as a pro boxer he fought fifteen times and it would be to sellout crowds.

Baseball was and still is known as our 'national pastime.' Not only was MLB big, but so was minor league baseball. Smaller towns that couldn't see MLB were deeply invested in their minor league team.

Now look at them. Boxing is almost extinct and baseball is probably the 3rd most popular sport in the country.

But the owners and Goodell just don't see it.

On one hand it's a shame to see another sport being ruined, but on the other hand you can't help but think they are getting what they deserve.

Sugar Ray Robinson?

That was over 50 years ago.

You wearing an onion on your belt too?

It's bad when the NFL appears to be the enemy of the players.

I can't figure out if it's incompetence or an attempt to get the players focus on everything but money when the next CBA negotiations start.

It's probably both.

I think a lot of this lunacy is just Goodell who has the big head. He is just doing stuff at this point to prove his dick is bigger than the NFLPA, not because it makes sense. It has gone way to far.

it's basically why he is hired, to screw over the NFLPA and he has done a good job of it so far. I think he pulled an Icarus when he suspended Zeke 6 games for Domestic Violence.

Right, suck down that Spin as much as you like. I really hope that you are not that gullible, but hey maybe you are.

Add Steelers.

Add Patriots.

Add Chargers.

You ignore facts yet call others gullible. Better gullible than delusional.

Add Jags owner linking arms with his players in solidarity.

Facts.

If the Cowboys start kneeling, I'm out.

I sincerely hope our players have the stones to protest in whatever manner they see fit.

I sincerely hope that leaders like Witten and Lee are by their sides in support.

I sincerely hope that those who do not respect a right to peacefully protest follow through and are, in fact, "out."

As for myself, first game I ever remember seeing was the Ice Bowl. Instant Cowboys fan. Fan ever since.

I am now THISCLOSE to disowning the entire NFL and sticking to college football.

On a positive note, that will free up Sunday for you to yell at kids to get off your lawn.

I could look back to the 70's and 80's as well. Boxing used to be a feature show on CBS in the 80's. But corruption ruined boxing and boxing thought it was above declining. Now look at it.

And the same goes for baseball.

Can anybody point to a time where politics was thrusted into a sport and it actually increased the popularity of that sport?

I'm all ears.

There's one surefire bet in the league today....Goodell and company will ALWAYS play the public relations game the wrong way.

so based on your strong convictions and adamant position on this situation, it is safe to assume that if the Cowboys decide not to participate in these protests than you're out, right?

Somebody mentioned similar attempts to do the same at NASCAR. With similar results.

Their attempts at expanding their audience is backfiring. Instead they are alienating their core audience.

Political correctness is slowly ruining the league.

Yup, I forgot about NASCAR. Between NASCAR, baseball and boxing...if you don't learn from history you're doomed to repeat it.
