There will be no free-agent addition to the Cowboys at linebacker this week.

The Dallas Cowboys have been struggling at linebacker this season. Whether through injury or lack of quality depth, the position has been a sore spot. That’s why the Cowboys had hoped to bring in the recently-released NaVorro Bowman for a visit to see if the veteran would be a good fit. They won’t be able to do that now as Bowman signed a one-year deal with the Oakland Raiders.

After being released by the San Francisco 49ers on Friday, the veteran linebacker is signing a one-year deal with the Oakland Raiders, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported, per a source informed of the move.

Per Rapoport, the deal is worth $3 million. With no offsets on his 49ers contract, Bowman will be paid by both teams.

Bowman had been slated to visit the Dallas Cowboys later this week, but the Raiders didn't let him out of the building.

It remains to be seen what Bowman has left. Once one of the top linebackers in the league, injuries made him expendable for a rebuilding San Francisco franchise. One area he was having problems in was pass coverage, an area the Cowboys have also been getting burnt at, so would he have been a good fit? Hard to say. But with Sean Lee’s tender hamstring and Jaylon Smith’s slow recovery, it probably wouldn’t have hurt to have the veteran in to play some snaps.

The Cowboys will face Bowman and the Raiders later this year.

I could not see signing him.

We have to re -sign Martin first..

then decide if we re-sign Morris or Mc Fadden..

Decide what to do with Witten's contract..

Decide what to do for Dez's deal to reduce it..

Then find a new DC.

Bowman would be a luxury.
