Lakers - I had hopes for a miracle playoff appearance. Clearly they need more development time and a improved roster. I don't know how good Ingram and Ball can be. If they can become elite NBA players then i'm not sure that the Lakers need a player like Lebron who needs to be focused on. If Ingram and Ball are not going to be elite then im all in for great players coming to Lakers. Kuzma might end up being better then Ingram. Lakers need time to feel out which of these youngs is going to step up and take over. 35 to 38 wins would be nice. Will see.

Celtics have a very good start to preseason. The Irving, Heyward and Horford trifecta is gelling well. Ball movement has been excellent.

Some other things:

Baynes definitely looks to be a real contributor. I dont think they will gey the offense in the real season that they are right now, but theu should be able to leave him on the court.

Smarts shooting has really improved. Him and Brown are likely to platoon at the 2. Smart will likely get more playing time then Brown.

Theis has looked really good. Looks like they should be able to get some contributions off the bench at the 4. He will probably get minutes over Guerschon Yabusele.

Tatum look really good defensively in his first game, but looked like he had some butterflies offensively. He looked much more settled the second game. He has been getting very heavy minutes.

Thank you for an intelligent Laker fan take.

I think that really is the crux of things. Do the Lakers continue to build through young guys and take aim at lower-tier playoffs with a direction aiming up as GSW and CLE fall off?
OR do they change direction and go instant gratification with LeBron and the crew he'd demand in to LA?

LeBron is a bit of a gift and a curse to any franchise at this point.

Also you are 100% on Kuzma and my bad for neglecting to mention him earlier.
He has looked like a very good young player thus far.

Lakers need to show a sign of improvement this season. Twenty wins or less will be drastic for Magic and he might start to consider possible replacements for Walton. I want it to work out for Walton Ball Ingram but Magic got hired to bring winning back to the Lakers. Magic is not used to losing and he will react harshly to another 20 win season.

30 wins is gonna be tough in the WC, but they would get 30 in the EC. I think Magic needs to take his lumps. Biggest thing that needs to be done this season before that make the decision on free agency is to evalute whether or not they have cornerstone players Ingram and Ball. To me if you believe you do, you don't stray from that path. LeBron and Friends bring excitement back, but they also bring a short window with them

Celtics sat their top 3 and annihilated the 76ers. Was up 84 to 51 at one point.

Wonder if that will get people off the 76er hype train a bit

So soon in preseason but man when that celtics lineup is clicking, they are scary. Feels like its only a matter of time with stevens there.

Look out for rozier this year.

Much more optimistic than I was before preseason. I thought they would have a rough earlt stretch and possibly fall under 50 wins. I think they could possibly break the 60 win threshold this year

They look like they want to change linups this year. They need Rozier as the second team facilitator when they have Smart starting at the 2

We have a tough opening two games. Cavs and Bucks. 0-2 start wouldnt shock me. Although Bucks minus Parker doesn't scare me that much. They got hot once they started Thonn last year, but I dont think he is ready for primetime

Thats a huge hit. Jaylen Brown and/or Jayson Tatum better be ready for big minutes

Crushing night for C's fans. Good news for Hayward is that it looks like it was a clean break, no ligament or blood vessle damage. Shouldnt be career threatening.

Brown looked very good tonight. Looks like he may be poised for a breakout year.

After a hot shooting preseason, Marcus Smart was back to being Marcus Smart.

Tatum got nearly a double double in his debut, but it like it will be Brown who gets relied on more with Heyward out. Dont know how long that lasts as Tatum is a more polished offensive player
