Bryan Taven I believe is his name.

Anybody know much about him.?

He looked like a one man wrecking crew vs Texas A&M.

Announcers were saying the coaches or players call him JJ Watt.

Do not know if he will be available in upcoming draft but he was impressive.

They said he was great against the run and he might be, but he looked like he was casing havoc in the backfield. Not sure if he would works as a one tech here, he was not like Wilfork big... I would imagine most would play him at three tech.

Just wondering if anyone knows much about him as he was really impressive during the game. Problem is that I don't watch much gator football so I don't know if is normally good or was just killing it during this game.

The 2018 draft could be rich in defensive line talent. NC State’s Bradley Chubb is making a strong case to go in the top-15 with a stunning start to the season, Christian Wilkins and Clelin Ferrell continue to impress at Clemson and Vita Vea is the type of athletic nose tackle that generally goes early in round one.

Florida’s Taven Bryan could be another name to add to the list.

He’s 6-4, 291lbs and the son of a former Navy Seal. “I’ve been blessed genetically” he says, a statement that is highly accurate to be fair.

Of the players I’ve watched for the first time in 2017, Bryan is on a par with Notre Dame’s brilliant guard Quenton Nelson.

“This guy is arguably the best athlete on our football team” says Florida coach Jim McElwain. “I’m sure many of the players would tell you the same thing.”

Temple head coach Geoff Collins, the former Florida defensive coordinator, goes a step further:


“I always thought he had J.J. Watt-ish ability… He’s a physical freak, and he’s gotten better every single day. He’s an NFL player now with room to get better. It’s a scary thought.”

So what does he show on the field? Brute strength for a start:

He’s number #93 in the video above. Look how he drives the Iowa center into the backfield and essentially takes out the running back with his own team mate.

Is he quick?

Look at his get off here and the immediate panic on the right side of Iowa’s O-line. He’s all over the right guard. It’s an absolute demolition of the line, moving the quarterback off the spot despite the shotgun snap. He has to scramble, he forces the throw and it’s a turnover.

Against Tennessee he was constantly in the backfield and he took things to another level against Kentucky. You can see for yourself in the full game video below:

He’s officially listed at 6-foot-5 and 293 pounds, and he looks like he could show up on one of those World’s Strongest Man competitions on ESPN2 one day.

“He’s amazing. He could lift the whole weight room if he wanted to,” Gators running back Lamical Perine said.

And yet, Bryan was obscured last season, stuck behind former Florida standout defensive tackles and 2017 NFL draft picks Caleb Brantley and Joey Ivie.

Now a redshirt junior, he’s primed to slide into Brantley’s spot in the middle of the Gators’ defensive line this fall, though he still remains out of the spotlight

He flashed a lot yesterday. Great motor as well.

Maybe Rod thought he was drafting Bryan in the 7th round this past year?

Impressive player. Noticed a lot of hype about him this year, just never got to watch him till recently.

I was asking people about Gator pass rusher Jabari Zuniga and they kept telling me to focus on Bryan. One is a NFL scout and the other recruits the Wyoming area for a D1 school. They appear to be very right, Bryan looks like a monster.

He may be better suited for 3-4 DE or 4-3 DT, but he looks like the type of player you just line-up somewhere on your defensive line and unleash him on opposing offenses.

Does he have limited NFL talent?

Is he a high motor guy?

If the answer to both is yes, he's probably a prime target for Marinelli.

He is much more JJ Watt than he is Nick Hayden, albeit that is a huge divide.

Still in awe that some people here actually defended Nick Hayden. Now, it's Jeff Heath. No limits.
