Martinas Rankin, OT, Mississippi State

School: Mississippi Position: Offensive Guard Class: Senior Height: 6-5 Weight: 307 lbs Projected Draft Round: 2-4

Scouting Report:

A JuCo transfer, Martinas is just starting to get his name mentioned as a possible early round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. Showed exceptional power with a strong base in the run game. Needs a strong season to not only find his position at the next level, but to continue to gain experience against top level competition

Scouting Report: Chukwuma Okorafor

School: Western Michigan Position: Offensive Tackle Class: Senior Height: 6-5 Weight: 330 lbs Projected Draft Round: 2-5

Scouting Report:

Exceptional size, length, and athleticism. Has good footwork and already has very good skillset for pass protection. Hand placement and blocking technique is still a work in progress, but with his rare size and skill, should be a high draft pick in 2018.

Cameron Smith is a playmaker - might not be highly athletic in coverage, but I'll take an intelligent player over an "athletic freak" like Jaylon Smith any day.

Smith can't walk and chew bubble gum at the same time.

This notion that he's dumb is hilarious.

It seems you have issues with players from ND. You randomly brought up Will Fuller in another thread saying his "freakish talents" didn't translate to the NFL despite the fact the guy has 5 TDs in 3 games this year.

I have no bias or love for any college team. I have issue with Fuller because he's a straight line speed guy - it was the same reason I disliked Jackson in Philly. Top speed is fine, I prefer route running. Fuller hasn't had a 100 yard game since week 2 last year. He's so very much like Desean Jackson, someone who will flash one week and be a ghost the next. Meh.

Well he did have crappy QB play in 2016. Hopkins himself only had two 100 yard receiving games himself last year. The first game and the 2nd to last game. And Fuller's TD this year aren't just straight bombs. You overstate how bad at route running he is. A legitimate knock on him would be his hands.

Frankly, I'd love if we had him on this team right now. He'd make life easier for Beasley, etc.

He's averaging a little over 2 catches a game right now. With high YPC, he's a hit on a streak player. There was a period where even Terrance Williams was going a stretch with a lot of TD catches - he's a product of a hot Texans offense right now that I believe will begin to sputter once defenses start to figure out Watson more.

Sure it would be nice to have a receiver with his speed, but you can get that with someone like Martavis Bryant and you won't have to use a first rounder on like the Texans did with Fuller. Fuller simply doesn't have the all-around talent of a first rounder, which is my biggest knock on him.

He's averaging a little over 2 catches a game as the #2 WR on a team that doesn't throw the ball a lot to begin with. Hopkins is averaging 6 catches a game as a #1.

You have an irrational hatred for Fuller. And yeah, I think you have some weird issue with ND. It was telling that of all the players you could come up with to help you rip Jaylon Smith for being an athlete who couldn't make the transition to the NFL, you chose another ND player.

Weird.

Dude, I completely forgot who Fuller even played for in college. Honestly, I barely pay attention to any college team, it's not my thing. I start paying attention to college players in the offseason where I have film to look through, the team means little to me. So drop it, I don't care about the college football product and I have no bias team hatred or loyalty.

Watson the past 4-5 games is averaging over 30 passing attempts a game. They throw enough - but again, Fuller is getting targeted maybe 2-4 times a game. And it's not "hatred" of Fuller, it's more of a criticism of taking a guy in round 1 that has bad hands and a mediocre route runner. If anything, I have a criticism of the Texans.

You can try and justify a guy getting 2 catches a game being a first rounder. Because eventually, those TDs are going to stop, and then you are stuck with a guy who maybe gets you a one big play a game and is a ghost the rest. That's not #1 talent.

And as I said, I'm more criticizing scouts than the player - scouts getting caught up in meaningless 40 times and high jumps.

Actually I am not justifying anything about where he was picked. I never even mentioned where he was picked

Just pointing out the oddity in essentially calling him a failed player in another thread and "proof" of a freak athlete not being able to transition to the NFL.

Indiana linebacker Chris Covington seems like a player, he has really stood out the last 2 games.

Smith looks good chasing plays but he got smashed by NDs OL running right at him.

Granted, USCs DL did him no favors.

ND has an amazing O-Line, at least on the left side. Something to keep an eye on - though it looks like their guard will be going high in the draft (not sure when he'll be entering)
