You need to watch Raid 2 if you haven’t yet... you should be able to stream if online easily now. It’s been a couple of years..

After watching General Kellys press conference the other day, I decided to watch the movie he referenced "Taking Chance". I am typically moved by all things Patriotic. One of the most awesome experiences I had was watching the changing of the guard at Arlington National Cemetery. Even as a 17 year old kid watching that I was just in awe at the perfection of it all. I moved to Florida a couple of years after the Challenger explosion. I can see the lift offs from my house but the first lift off after the Challenger I happened to be on Interstate 4 heading east toward Orlando, I was listening to the radio broadcast and at liftoff the radio started playing the National Anthem. I noticed many cars on the interstate that day pulling off onto the shoulder, getting out, taking their hat off and and watching the lift off. I pulled off too and got out of my car to watch with such great pride. My dad died in 1988. He was a veteran and he had a flag over his casket. My mom asked me to sing at his funeral. They had pulled the flag back for viewing and the plan was them to close the casket and put the flag fully back over before the service started. I told the funeral director that they could close the casket but dont touch the flag. I had to start teh service with a song and already emotional, I knew I would not make it if I had to follow the flag being draped over my dads casket. I said all that to say that "Taking Chance" was incredibly moving because of the reverence and patriotism and honor give to the fallen soldier. Not just from service members, but people involved with any moving of the body inculding flight attendants, pilots, baggage people, and just regular people in general who noticed. I got emotional watching that more than any movie I had ever seen. I told my wife later not to watch it because she would be crying the entire movie. Still, the movie was enlightening. I never gave it a thought to the protocol that the service members go through just to make it home. Watch it for the experience of something incredibly moving. 10 out of 10 if for no other reason than just learning what happens.

want to see a movie tonight but the pickings are slim

It was kind of all over the place and not enough killing/murder/torture. If you are expecting something like Seven or Kiss The Girls.....you will be severely disappointed :thumbdown:

It was also easy to predict who was who fairly early on. It could have been so much better too :(

1922 based on a shirt story or novella from Stephen King. Currently on Netflix.

Meh. I hate movies were you have to turn up the volume to hear someone voice but have to turn the volume down because music or other sounds are too loud.

Movie was kind of slow and had me half nodding off at parts.

Maybe my expectations were waaaaay to high for this film but it was really a disappointment Imo.

Taking Chance was on HBO late last week, and it turns out, I had seen it as well. I was just combining it and The Messenger into a single movie in my head. I thought both were pretty good in their own ways.

Gerald's Game on Netflix - meh
I read most of the book back in the day and thought it was meh then as well.

However the Crypt Creeper was one of the few interesting parts of the book...and he looks crazy wild in the movie the few times they showed him in the dark.

HIs courtroom scene was ok I guess but I had trouble understanding what he was saying.

The Killing of a Sacred Deer. 7/10. Not as good as The Lobster (which I give 9.5/10). I thought the weird kid in the film was very good. Not as original or entertaining as The Lobster though.
