Just curious, was it an older house? I know you were young but did you ever research the history of the area and/or house at the time or later in life? Did your parents ever mention having any experiences?

Yes, by word of mouth only, though. The house was built in either the 1930s or '40s. My parents owned it longer than any previous owner, 30 years. We knew of three of the previous owners, and bought it from family friends, who were happy when they moved in, and divorced three years later, selling the house. The people they bought it from, I remember seeing the daughter in school, although she was older and I wasn't friends with her, but she always looked serious and borderline distressed, she never smiled. I don't know of any deaths in the house, other than my dad in 2008. I have no history on the land prior to the house being built. Yes, my parents had their own experiences there, as well. One time, they were sitting in the living room watching TV. All of a sudden there was a loud crashing sound coming from the kitchen, which was right off the living room. They rushed in to see what the heck it was, and nothing. Not a thing was out of place and they could never explain what had happened. My dad said it sounded like every dish and pot in the cabinets had crashed to the floor, although he was never one to rush to judgement about what it might be, you understand. He was a very level headed man who always tried to find a mundane reason for things. Although, he admitted that not everything could be easily explained away. And then my mom with her wrapping paper I told about in the OP, of course. There were others over the years, but those are the two that I remember the most concerning them.

Oh, and the back bedroom I used to use as a play room. We called it the Pink Room, because the walls were painted pink when we bought the house. It was a very little cute room, it had a bed that was built into the wall about four feet off the floor, with built in drawers and closet underneath. My mom made pretty pink curtains for it, so you could get in there and feel like a hidden princess, lol, it was perfect for a nine year old girl. I loved it at first! I quit going in that room within the first year after we moved in, because the feeling in there was raw and creepy, like the walls were closing in, your skin just prickled and it felt like someone was staring at you, like they were gonna come around the corner from the bedroom door entryway at any second. It just didn't feel pleasant, it felt foreboding and heavy, scary really. Sometimes I would stop and stare at that corner and literally hold my breath, to try and hear if there was someone there, because it felt like there was. The last time I ran out of there, I couldn't take it anymore and I abandoned all of my toys, never going back in to retrieve them. My dad decided to use it as his "radio" room, he was big into ham radio, but even he grew tired of the "creepy unsettling" feeling, and eventually he abandoned it, too. It became a storage room after that. The light to that room started coming on all by itself now and then, a few years later and continued to do so for the duration of our time there. And I mean the light switch flipped to the up/on position, no faulty wiring or anything. You could walk by that door and the light was off, walk right back by it one minute later and it would be on. Even when my son and I were cleaning the house out after my mom died, it came on once. We had not even gone into that room yet, we were saving it for last, lol, and there were boxes in front of the door. We had left the day before, then when we came back the next day, that damn light was ON!! We had to move all of the boxes to turn it off. I will admit that did scare me. lol. There was absolutely NO WAY we could say maybe somebody turned it on and forgot to turn it off. Nobody was in the house!

I don't know. I woke in the morning....and someone left..I mean yrs ago ...when l really needed them most. There are plenty of heart felt songs for it. It still hurts. There is no getting over certain things. Its just a song.

I guess that's why they call it the blues, Jack. Their loss, eh? Pain is pain, but ******, it hurts! I'm sorry, my friend. Truly. :(

Wow! Creepy indeed, it seems as if there were too many incidents to blow it off as some sort of mind trick or individual experience.

You know, I have been over it again and again in my mind, thinking is it haunted? Or all just strange coincidences? Part of me wants to just say yes, it is a very haunted house. But then I don't know. I have never lived in a house as horrifying as what we see on tv, no demons or possessions, no real bodily attacks or anything. No identifiable "ghosts" to speak of. I don't know. It was a very not normal house. I do know that. lol

I get it, I really do. Like the stories I told here, I still try to think of "what ifs" and other possible scenarios or coincidences but some (most) can't be explained or have a reasonable explanation. 20 years later and it still freaks me out enough that I believe there's things out there that we're not fully aware of.

So are you a great storyteller? Or a great story teller? :)

Actually, I suspected your stories were not made up. Just saying. But I still think you should submit them to CreepyPasta channels on youtube. They are engaging and interesting. They do accept true stories, as well. :)

For the record, none of either story were made up. I have no problems with the second story but there are parts of the first story that I'm not proud of and have regrets about. On the other hand, both incidents are largely responsible for my current beliefs which probably never would exist if they never happened.

I posted this link in another thread but you may find it interesting to peruse. Some fascinating stories and real life incidents, it will keep you busy for awhile.

Back in the early 1990's, my girlfriend and I were at her best friend's boyfriends house hanging out, listening to music, and talking. We were sitting on the couch in the living room, and right across from us was the hallway leading to the bedrooms. During the evening, I kept finding myself staring down this hallway. My girlfriend noticed this, and asked me what I was looking at. I told her, I wasn't sure but I kept getting the feeling we weren't wanted there. She got irritated with me, told me to quit acting weird, and apologized to her friends. Her friend's boyfriend told her not to apologize, and asked me to describe what I was feeling. I told him, that I had this feeling we weren't supposed to be there, that something wanted us to leave, and it was coming from somewhere down that hall. My girlfriend, now embarrassed, and glaring at me, thinks I have lost my mind. I look at her, hold out my arm, turn my head to look down the hall, and every hair on my arm stood straight up. The friend's boyfriend then told me that I was not the first person to feel that way in his home, but my reaction was the strongest he's seen to date. He explained that a few years earlier, his dad had a heart attack, and died while taking a shower, which was located at the end of the hall. He said the reason why I felt unwelcome there was his dad did not like for anyone he did not know personally to be in his house, at all (understandable). While still looking down the hall, I apologized to his father, and said I meant to disrespect. The feeling stopped after that.

I don't remember the rest of the evening except for the drive home. My girlfriend was unusually quiet, and I thought she was still mad at me for what happened earlier. When I pull up to her house to drop her off, she asks if she can run in, and get a few things, and stay with me that night. I said sure, of course. I told her that I was surprised she wanted to stay with me after what happened earlier. She was scared, and didn't want to be alone. She asked me if that was the first time I ever had experiences like that in a strangers home, I said no.

First of all... I'd like to thank Kimrose for starting a topic where I can finally put this story to type.
So this is my true story...an October story!...

When my brother and I were both teenagers and still living at the parents house, we would often walk up our block to the local grocery store.
That's what we did one hot "Summer afternoon"...no school...no hurry.

We had just left the store and were walking along the side of the building towards a vacant lot behind the store when we both just froze in our tracks.
Standing approximately 30 yards in front of us , and a little to our right, in full daylight was an entity?..a little person?..a spirit?...I still do not really know!
It appeared to be a tiny, frail being...an old man!?...long whitish beard, long whitish hair.
He stood about 4 foot tall. His clothes were grey, and very old and dirty looking!...dusty!
He was wearing a grey weathered looking hat, and a grey "long coat;" I believe he had on dark boots!?!...He looked very thin and old.

I just stood there and stared at him. He never made a move or a sound; he stood there in the middle of the field and stared back at us.
I looked at him long enough to see his weathered face, and his expression ,and then his eyes.
He had young intelligent eyes... They seemed out of place...they seemed amused!?

Quickly I turned to my brother, who also had been staring at the entity, and I said, "Let's get him!"...( Why did I say that?...Why didn't I just continue
staring at him... or even try to communicate!?)...He knew our intentions.

As I said earlier, he was ahead of us and a little to our right; as we began to run towards the "little creature" he made a funny little hop and took
off running across our path and to our left...he was fast; he could not have been human. I could run like the wind back then, but compared to me he was "superfast."
My brother and I had not made it to the back of the store before we first saw the little old being... so we were only about 20 feet away from it when the being ran across our paths and behind the back of the building.

Within seconds we were at the edge of the building...nothing!...nothing but the backend of a large brick grocery store...a brick store that went on for almost
1/4 of a block. Only one large steel service door...the being had vanished.

I've reflected on that Summer day many times since then...even now I am still amazed!
I do believe that it was an interdimensional or spiritual creature of some type. There is still the lingering "fear" that if this creature truly can make itself invisible, or travel "to and fro" through dimensions, then maybe it followed us home...Maybe it's still around.

Growing up, I've always had some of the worst nightmares of anyone I know. These nightmares were especially scary not just because of how real they seem, but they were the type of dreams where you couldn't tell dream from reality. They sometimes seemed intertwined.

During my freshman year of high school, I had one of these nightmares, and I will never forget it. In the dream, it was night time, and I was standing on a beach. The only light coming from the full moon above, and just out in the ocean was a small island with a lighthouse. The lighthouse was dark, and abandoned. There were no lights, no signs of life, but then, I could barely make something out walking towards the lighthouse and disappearing into the darkness. I found a boat nearby, and start rowing to the island to investigate, because, obviously that's what you should do, right? I get to the island, and make my way to the lighthouse. The only sounds coming from the wind, the ocean, and the creaking noises from the lighthouse in front of me. I open the door. It's dark inside except for a stairway that's partially lit by the moonlight. I start to slowly walk up the stairs, and I'm about half way up when I hear a low growling, and heavy footsteps below racing towards me. As I turn to face the source, something large, and dark jumps at me, and hits me in the chest. I wake up in excruciating pain. I feel like someone hit me in the chest with a large sledge hammer, or two. I couldn't breathe. I look up to see my mom standing in the doorway staring at me with a look of horror, and confusion. I asked her if she was alright. She said she heard a noise, walked in to investigate, and saw me laying on my back. She said I sunk into the mattress, then shot straight up in the air about a foot or so, and landing back on the bed just before I woke up.

That next morning I was getting ready for school, and I was replaying the dream in my mind. My chest was extremely sore. I was still having difficulty breathing, and it hurt just to move. While brushing my teeth, I looked in the mirror, I noticed I had a large bruise in the center of my chest. I had difficulty sleeping for a few weeks after that.

Though the dream wasn't nearly as scary as my other nightmares, this one was unforgettable because it was the only time in my life I could remember having physical injuries from a dream itself.

Years later, I told my girlfriend (the one I mentioned in the story earlier) about this dream. She was fascinated by these types of dreams, and this one really interested her, along with my other nightmares. She told me numerous times that I should write a book about them. She told me she would sometimes wake up in the middle of the night if I moved a bit, or made a noise, and she would just watch me for a while to see if I was having a nightmare, to see how I would react, and she would wake me if I looked like I was having a nightmare.

I was in Portland, Oregon visiting friends back in 2003. The second to last night I was there we went out to eat with a few of their local friends. I remember feeling very tired as we had traveled for days up and down the Oregon coast as well as a stop at Crater Lake(I recommend everyone visit). I was talking to this guy whom I just met and suddenly it felt as if time slowed down. He had this strange stare on his face and asked me a question to which I responded “No, I don't”. The problem was that I answered before he even finished asking his question, which was “Do you feel psychic?”. Everyone at the dinner table were surprised at what transpired and actually said I answered before he even started his question. He laughed and said he sensed that I had latent psychic abilities and that I should work on them. I didn't press him for information on how exactly someone works on supposed psychic abilities. I didn't think of those events until recently while watching Stranger Things 2. I don't think I'm psychic, but the story gives me a chuckle.

Wow, Joseephuss. That gives me a chuckle, too. And the chills. Maybe you should look into that. Psychic stuff is for real, man. The military uses psychics and so do the police. Psychics are amazing. They have helped find killers and missing people, living and dead both. I sort of kind of wish I was psychic, but am mostly glad I am not. The things they "see" and experience are beyond my worst nightmares.

Here's my personal story:

No matter how many times I try, I can never remember how to spell bureaucratic or bureaucrat. It drives me nuts how I can be this pathetic at spelling, yet it never improves

and yes I had to google both to correct my spelling error

Ha! That's scary stuff! LOL. I have the same problem with the word "beautiful". The only way I can spell it is to sound it out like a second grader. "bee - ay - yu - tiful". That's pretty embarrassing, since I'm a girl who uses the word all the time.

yep, right there with ya, that one gives me trouble too. I'd say its laziness on my part but at some point you'd think I'd finally remember

Unfortunately, no matter how grown up we are, we just can never remember these simple words. I can spell antidisestablishmentarianism with no problem, but I can't spell b-e-a-u-tiful without help.

In the eight years we have lived in our house, we have had ZERO trick-or-treaters. ZERO. Even though we live next door to an apartment complex that has children.:confused::(
