This thread is exposing a lot of people. How can you not see that there is something wrong with the way Jerry conducts himself? Although this wasn’t racist it’s still something that shouldn’t have been said let alone joked about. Stephen needs to be the face because Jerry is hurting the team with this foolishness.
So it's not racists but Jerry still needed to apologize? Stuff like this says more about the sensitivities of our country than anything else.
There's not a person on this board that hates Jerry the owner/GM more than me (OK, maybe one) but I recognize the things Jerry has done for his players that he didn't have to do. And most of these players Jerry helps are African American. He's loyal to fault and I don't think it's just about the money. I think the guy really wants Randy Gregory to get his act together and straighten out his life. Same with Irvin when he had his troubles. He's brought players back as assistant coaches and given them jobs when he didn't have to. He kept players around who probably should have been cut or released. I mean, he even tried to find an amicable solution to the Anthem protests that would support his players yet still respect the flag. And he took that knee as an organization and with all the players and coaches.
I didn't see the video. I won't watch it because I think I know the guy from his actions more so than his words. That's a standard I hold for anyone, not just Jones. If folks want to label the man despite his actions in support of people of color, both on and off the football field, then that says more about you than Jerry.
