How many years do we give Dak?

I want to see Dak with some new receivers and a Playmaking TE before I get rid of him. I just think it takes too long for these guys to get open and that makes Dak hold onto the ball. Dak's best receiver was Brice Butler this year by far. Seemed like they had a connection early and then Brice had the foot injury and it just kinda faded away.

Carson Wentz looked a lot better when he got better playmakers around him. it's time for the Cowboys to bring in some new energy at the skills position.
When it takes you having the best to be good maybe you aren't that good. Why do the great qb's never seem to have this problem? The make it happen with decent WR and these wideouts are at least all decent. Maybe Dak isn't that good simple as that. I'm not being a hater either just look at the top qb's and look at their WR cores over their careers how many of them have had a top WR for their bulk of their career recently? Even with Wentz them guys are okay but I don't think most think of any of their WR as top 10 to 15. I could be wrong on that but they overall just seem good not great.

Yeah that's the new thing for these guys. Pretend Wentz has hella talent all around him. They added Blount, Jeffries and Smith to a very mediocre group of skill position players. Then they added Ajayi halfway thru the season with Wentz already on an MVP pace. These moves must have been franchise altering.

Or..maybe their QB is just legit.

DP should always have competition and all positions should always be evaluated for upgrades.

Everyone is expendable in football.

That being said, DP more than likely has until his rookie contract ends or if a better option presents itself.

Whichever comes first.

I've not been a Dak guy. I've kept my skeptic eyes open. I praise him when he's good, I'm critical when he's not. That said, he appears to have taken a step back this year. Let's not forget, he is a 2nd year QB. Not many of those guys are ready to carry the offense on their own, especially with their arms. Scott Linehan did him no favors. He lost Zeke for six games, Dez is washed, Witten is in decline. There is no speed from the other receiving positions to keep defenses honest, and on top of it all, the offensive line was banged up for much of the year. I'll give Dak a pass. We have GOT to get rid of Scott Linehan. I'd prefer the whole staff is replaced but that is not an option. Dak needs to work on his footwork, getting rid of the ball, running for positive yardage when the opportunity is there. They need to take way his run/pass options in the redzone. It should have been taken away on the 3 yard line in the fourth quarter yesterday. That's coaching. I like Jason but he is just not a good game day coach. His in-game is his weakness and players work to hard during the offseason and during the season to have a weak coach on Sundays. Remember, Romo had a lot of issues with his supporting cast too. Cowboys have star players. We need more talented players all around.

Next year will be telling. I wish he'd have some fresh eyes and ideas from a coaching standpoint but that's unlikely in Dallas.

I've seen enough already to be honest. We should move for a QB immediately.

That said, he will get one more opportunity (and he really does deserve it in totality)

In addition- the HC and OC needs gone yesterday and the only Coordinator I think deserves to stay is Marinelli.

His unit played much better late in season when the changes in the secondary were made and I feel a change there would pull a rug out from under the entire defense. I'd try to coax Rod to retirement and promote Eberflus.

I'm ready for something all new at this point. Tired of ugly embarrasing home losses to mediocre teams and the coach backslapping and grinning like it's a pre-season contest.

Dak is the early edition of Alex Smith. He's not going to make mistakes. Efficient. Good numbers. Not likely to make many highlight reels.

Rookie contract and possibly an extension..

We should draft another QB and see what Rush can do...

Dak just totally regressed and pooped the bed pretty hard in year 2.

One thing seems sure: he isn't going to be getting any faster, and that accuracy is REALLY bad....

I'd give him next season WITH hopefully a much improved WR group. If he hasn't returned to form, then it's time to move on, and the search continues.

What does the receiving corp have to do with him not throwing accurate passes or properly reading defenses? His problem is inaccuracy due to poor mechanics as well as not reading defenses.

The moment yesterday when Aikman even pointed out that Dak looked directly at the blitz and still didn’t prepare for it should’ve opened a lot of people’s eyes...and he said “I’m not really sure what he was looking at”.

The moment when he threw behind Dez while Dez was sitting in place in the zone should’ve also been eye opening as to how wildly erratic his accuracy is.

Funnynthing is most people wouldn't want Alex Smith but want Dak with no questions asked. You see how good ole Alex is getting treated in KC??? Maybe Dak needs that same treatment. Dak was critiquing Romo like a fan which he was and now folks doing the same to him.

Next year. I'm concerned because Dak has no clue what the defense is doing. LOST. Doesn't know who's blitzing, who's going to come open etc.

Is this lack of experience???. Not enough studying film?

But yeahh, give him next year.

People just looking to blame the coaching staff and Jerry for everything. They deserve blame no doubt but not for Dak not being accurate and risk adverse to the point of messing up the team. I'm mean our WR core isn't the greatest but if we need an O line like rebuild at WR for this guy to be good long term I'm sorry he isn't a good QB period. He is then Andy Dalton status on a more popular team.
