I'm thinking 6 games at most. There's no way he's going to get more than that if he continues his awful play. QBs that have stretches like these belong in Cleveland.

What say you?
Dad isn't going anywhere.

Managements view of Dak > Fans view of Dak

After last year Dak probably doesn't even have a leash.

Seriously some here are brutal ... what were you all like in Aikmans first 2-3 seasons ? Jeesh Aikman struggled mightily early on .. heck he didn’t break 3,000 yards until his 4th season .. of course he won a super bowl and played lights out that season .. but as great as Aikman was his first 3 seasons were “ok” .. he had 31 tds and 46 ints ... he struggled to break 2,000 in his first two seasons and hit about 2,500 in his 3rd

Now before some blast me, by no means am I comparing Dak to Aikman .. but cmon some live in this microwave instant gratification society .. let the guy develop .. he regressed .. but he has shown poise and smarts at times with some athleticism and he is freaking cheap .. now if a good qb falls in our lap , then nab him but let Dak play himself either in to or out of this position over time ...

But you are comparing them. You are putting up Aikman's first 3 years to make a comparison. The league was COMPLETELY different then. It's night and day. People think that Dak got ruined by 8 sacks vs Atlanta?? Go look at Troy's first years in the league and count how many times he staggered off of the field with blood dripping down his chin because of the helmet to the face hits he was taking. On top of that our offensive line was so bad in Troy's first year that they had guys coming in off of the street and then cut them in a week or two, just trying to find bodies to get in the way of the defenders. Please, don't bring up Troy because it's entirely apples to oranges.

Dak would not have lasted 2 games playing for a team like the 89 Cowboys. He'd be mentally broken and fetal. He's had happy feet since Atlanta and defenders are barely even allowed to touch the QB now. Aikman probably took more hits in his first 2 or 3 games than Dak has in 2 years.

I’m thinking you’re going to be dead wrong he’ll get a full season next year unless he’s injured.

The leash should be very short. Like a midget walking a chihuahua.

Who are you going to pull him for, Rush who has yet to take a regular season snap? The Cowboys didn’t move on from Romo if they didn’t plan on giving Dak every chance to be the Cowboys QB of the future.

I doubt there is even a tiny bit of doubt in the minds of management about Dak's role as our franchise QB.

I honestly believe they are married to Prescott no matter how he looks next season. They will always be able to point to his rookie season as proof that he is a franchise QB. Once they took the tact they took regarding not giving Romo back the starting job when healthy, they cast their lot with Prescott.

Hopefully Prescott puts in heavy work this off season individually and with his receivers. He has to be able to work on his release point, footwork, pocket presence, making ALL the throws, throwing receivers open, blitz recognition, making proper line calls, etc. The franchise will be better if he does make gains...

I'd make it clear to Dak that competition will be open for QB1 as of Day 1 of Training Camp.

I'd strongly advise he come to camp prepared in 2018. This team can no longer wait on a QB that told everybody he was ready for the next level after a startlingly good rookie season.

Fool me once shame on you....

I'd give him half the year. If he hasn't bounced back by then, barring the unforeseen, it's time to move on, IMO.

The problem is, he does all that the best he can. Hard work and commitment are not Dak's issues at all. He's perfect in that regard.

He just doesn't have the quarterback skills for this league.

You may be absolutely correct erod...I know he can't do a thing about his lack of accuracy. Either you have it or you don't.

Footwork and reading defenses helps, but a big part is natural throwing ability. He doesn't have that.

:hammer:This is a man that remembers ...Hell they had to invent a special chin strap because his chin was stitched up so much.
There was none of this protecting the qb back in the day.

Id sign Teddy or Bradford and Dak would have competition.

According to some here he’s going to have his hands full trying to hold off Cooper Rush who has yet to take a regular season snap. Some already can’t wait for Rush to replace Dak.
