I would love to see Payne in Dallas. Say what you want about Marinelli, but he has lived up to his billing as a D-line guru. I've read an ex-NFL player who described D-Law as "the Antonio Brown of pass rushers" - guess who's coached up his technique for the last 4 years...

I don't think Payne has that much he needs to fix, and the upside is through the roof. Marinelli could easily bring the best out of him.
Yeah, but we'd have to change our philosophy to draft him.

I take Taven Bryan but will end up with a Harrison Phillips player

or BJ HILL type player

but I don't see us picking one until the fourth round
Honestly I could live with that. I would prefer Payne or vea but Phillips and hill would both be solid additions.with as deep as this DT class is , there is no real reason for the cowboys to continue to basically ignore the one tech position as they have done in the past. However if the draft comes and passes and the cowboys dont' draft a DT , I'll be pissed

Payne its more a run specialist, this line need to create more pressure, Payne have only 3 sacks in 3 years, vita vea have 9.5 sacks in 3 years, teven bryan 5.5 sacks in 3 years, maurice hurst 13.5 in practically 3 years because the first year of his 4 years in school, he only play 3 games, so which player do you think is the least for this line? Im go with 1.- Vita vea, 2.- Maurice hurst (2nd because his size and weight), 3.- taven bryan. christian wilkins could be a good option to because he have 10.5 sacks in 3 year, but he will return for senior season. if we select a DT the better option all around its Vita Vea.

I think the need is at the 1 Tech, where run stuffing is the premium need.

I just saw that Christian Wilkins is returning to Clemson for his senior season. That is a pretty big chance he is taking considering his stock is already pretty high.

Wilkins’ decision to return to college just made the 1st Round talent at DT 25%-33% less deep IMO

The Cowboys can't go wrong taking anyone of those DTs but Hurst is my last choice as far as a first rounder goes.
I wouldn't use a first on Settle but would trade up in the 2nd for him. This guy is a pocket collapser from hell.

Derrick Nnadi (Florida St)- has the "fire hydrant" type of build, relatively short and extremely stocky. He's a flat out people mover and a beast in the run game. However...brings very little pass rush and isnt much of an athlete overall. Can show a quick burst off the snap from time to time, maybe just needs coaching? Should make a good part time DT, but I don't see a very high ceiling in his skill set and lack of size/length.
My Player Comparison- Cullen Jenkins
https://withthefirstpick.com/2017/06/15/derrick-nnadi-florida-state-2018-nfl-draft-scouting-report/ (they think much more of him than I do)

Kendrick Norton (Miami)- 320 lb NT with a ton of strength. Big powerful hands that he uses to well to fight off blocks. High cut body type that doesn't move particularly well. 0 change of direction in his game, if the run isn't at him he usually doesn't make a play. Wasn't impressed at all with him, maybe a 3-4 NT, but don't like him in our D. Don't see much more than a 2nd string 1 tech
My Player Comparison- Pat Sims

Along w/ pocket collapsing.

For some reason, most don't seem to understand how a NT who requires a double team and who can push the pocket back into the QB's face completely disrupts the O and makes everyone better on D. There's more to a pass rush than sacks.

Exactly Ksk. It's not the NTs job to rack up stats. A good one is a catalyst that affects the defense as a whole. Notice how Sean Lee wasn't missing games when Terrell McClain was keeping the LBs clean in 2016?
