A wise man. I've always thought it very important that a man's got to know his limitations. That's a scarcity here. I think fantasy football has made way too many people think their football geniuses.

Those delusions start at the top of this organization.

I'm fine with this hire. Pollack wasn't awful-- but he's young and unproven. Alexander will command the respect of the room in a new way and (hopefully) bring some fresh ideas to the offense.

I believe they are pretty close to the same age.

Really? News to me. I thought Pollack was a young Callahan disciple. Oh well-- then it's an upgrade at that spot for sure as he accomplished far less than Alexander has but is the same age.

Those delusions start at the top of this organization.

Truer words have never been spoken! However, I am encouraged that it does seem like Hog Jowls has stepped back over the last few years. He's still the public talking head, which I'd rather him not be; I shudder when he says "in my mind" because that's scary place! But at least more intelligent people seem to be running the asylum. We're toast if Will McClay ever leaves, and to an extent, Jason Garrett. Garrett's game day management and, maybe, his offense leave a lot to be desired, but there's no doubt he's been instrumental in driving the philosophy of building from the inside out.

Good hire, regardless of what the malcontents and chronic complainers on here say.

He’s highly respected as an OL coach around the league. Has led OL drills at the combine at least once, and has been cincy’s assistant head coach for 14 years.

The Bengals OL has been solid for a long time now despite their front office letting talented OL walk out the door in free agency.

I’ve also heard that it was his decision not to renew his contract with cincy... not the other way around. However, I don’t know that as fact. It makes sense though. He’s been a mainstay in cincy for nearly a quarter century and is just in his mid 50’s.

Just worked out that way though.

Paul Alexander is the type of veteran coach garrett has to have around him. Long time in the league and worked under Jim McNally.

It doesn’t seem to be a back pick based on guys he produced that bounced for free agency last year.

Then fans would just complain we were going with a guy who hasn't been in the role we are hiring him for. Fans would complain no matter what direction the team goes.
Since when does Jerry care what fans think? If so, we'd have a Super bowl by now.
