All he had to do was wrap up the guy and hold on. Clock would have expired probably before the whistle - but would not have mattered since the Vikes had no time outs left.
Now did the DC have everyone in to tell them what to do? 'Just let him make the catch and wrap him up and the game is over'

Anyone trying to defend they guy knows nothing about real football. He wanted to look like something by making a big hit - and will forever have to live with his screwup.

The REASON that Roger's pass to Drew is called the Hail Mary is because afterwards Roger made it clear he said a Hail Mary before he threw the ball

I told my wife that play totally looked like something that would happen to the Cowboys.
That's what I said too. And if it happened for us I probably would have missed it cause I probably would have gone outside or changed the channel from being too pissed off.

#20 makes the easy tackle as Diggs is trying to regain his balance after making the catch. Unfortunately #43 completely wiped him out.
It was all choreographed dude, Vince McMahon secretly bought the NFL and everything is scripted.

Thats how it works right @CF74

That wasn't a Hail Mary (neither was Pearson's), it was a corner route designed to get him OOB and turned into a fluke TD. Also it was a walk off, whereas Pearson's catch occurred with about 30 seconds left.

Somewhat ironically, the play which coined the phrase "Hail Mary" wasn't a Hail Mary at all. It was a go route against cover 2 man with half a minute left.
How can it not be a hail mary, if the term hadnt been used previously and the QB who threw it named it Hail Mary in the post game interview?

I'm convinced Garrett is never going to be fired as long as Jerry is still alive. Very sad indeed.

Agree. JJ thinks that he's the next Landry and that Tex/etc made a wise decision to keep him on even after " next years champion". Difference is he's not willing to adapt to todays game and you could see the multiple variations of
how teams involved WR's in their version of the jet sweep to their advantage. We run the same tired play over and over and rarely get a big gainer out of it.

Switzer looks like he could do some damage if we varied ours up, but its not 90's football so doubt we will see it.

Hail Mary was just his interpretation of I'm throwing it up with a prayer that its a completion....

Keenum did the same thing... It has now morphed into any potential game winning or low probability scoring opportunity.....

That said it was a " miraculous finish" under any designed or made up play....

Thanks for putting everything in perspective. I almost thought it was a just a great play with poor tackling.
..thats all it was. Great catch and awareness. The defender blew it 100%. All that and lots of Luck on the play. Notice Keenum had no pressure, was able to stand back and put the ball on the right spot.

Life comes at you fast. No one knows this better than Marcus Williams. Dude went from game-changing hero to season-ending goat in about an hour.

I had to come here to post this, it's one of the best tweets I've ever seen. Might even melt the cold black hearts of the most jaded of us posters on this forum: (volume ON)

I turned the game off when the Saints hit the pass inside the 25 for a first down with about a minute left. :omg:

NO. Roger SAID he gave a Hali Mary just before the play started. So it is ABSOLUTELY a HAIL MARY despite your rather bizarre attempts to claim otherwise

Lighten up with the “ bizarre” . We can all have our own impression. This is not life or death. Also realize I gave you a like as I still appreciate your take...

He said he was trying to make sure he kept him in bounds... But it was obvious he wanted to make some hit... since he didn't even open his arms up. He calculated wrong, and now he will see that as a highlight forever lol.
